I'd like to share some tracks of flying with a friend, to help induce him to take up Il-2. But of course without installing the game himself, he cannot view the .trk files.

So my question is - is there a (simple) way of converting these files into an .avi or .wmv?, via a converter program?

How do all the vids on youtube get made?

And if it's by video capture, any suggestions which freeware programs work decently and simply? I've never been able to find one yet that works as it should.

You can capture the track playing with FRAPS for example.

In other words when you watch a track what you are seeing is the sim repeating the mission you flew .... not a video representation of it.. Like Hunder said.. you will have to use something like Camtasia, Fraps or some other video capture program to record the track..
