Copying and pasting groups of Objects in FMB
#1

Hello,

I have a mission-building question. Is it possible to cut and paste groups of objects in the FMB from one mission to another? For example, let's say I have made an elaborate AA gun emplacement, complete with AA gun, sand bag wall, ammo boxes, tractor and gun crew. Now I want to have this same group of objects in another mission, maybe even on a completely different map. Is there a way to copy and paste this group of objects, or do I need to rebuild it each time I begin building a new mission?

Your input on this would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

RB

There are a couple of programs out there that let you setup templates like your AAA emplacement and you import them when required - the one I played with a few years ago is called Groupcloner - you can check it out http://flygflottilj16.se/download.php?view.9

Hope this helps

also, have a look on mission 4 today for a programme called pacific fighters monkey wrench, or PFMW for short (dont let the name fool you it works with all versions of IL2)

This allows you to copy and paste, delete and rotate groups of objects. There is also a cool library function that allows you to build something, i.e. an airfield, barracks or gun emplacements. then save the items for future use on any map.

Another great programme to look at while your there is the quick mission tuner.

Both of these programmes are a must for any campaign builders

Take a look at Quick Object Tool. This is a stand alone program with a graphical interface.
In addition to saving your own groupings it comes with 156 groupings ready to go.
This is the nicest helper progream have seen for what you are looking to do.

You can download it and a patch that goes with it from this German site.
http://www.jg5.de

When you get to the site, click the "Technik" button in the row on the left and then the "download" sub-catagory. You will see them there.

Have fun.

Hi Spinner,

I downloaded the Quick Object Tool software from the JG5 website, but I cannot install the program. It always gives me an error message, something like "Unaccounted object ..." and then it tels me that it can't find the system core or something to that extent. When I try to use the patch they provided, I get a message saying that it can't find the English language files. However, the only two language options in the install menue are English, or Russian.

Perhaps, I should email the JG5 people about it. Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

I don't know what to tell you RB. I didn't have any trouble installing it on my XP Pro system and it certainly is worth the effort.

Do you use XP or Vista? I hear how Vista can be problematic sometimes.

Maybe the files you downloaded are a different version from the ones I installed. I would happily e-mail them directly to you if you would like.

Let me know.
