Need Help Badly
#1

I installed the Magister and Forgotten Nations mods from here, including the new buttons , and the game would crash at 60% load. But that is not the least of my worries. I accidentaly deleted a file in the main Il-2 folder. The file was called "lib", and now the game won't start at all, and the uninstall is the same. Can someone please help me figuer out how to uninstall the game so that I can reinstall it?

I will be waiting for help.

First I have to ask you ,how did you try to uninstall the game?Did you try going to control panel to add or remove programs?

Hello, I faced that problem on a previous occasion; I had to remove the game manually (program removal in control panel). Make sure youi have removed all files (no IL2 folder should appear in your windows explorer) then reinstall the game, patch it up to 4.08, 4.09, etc...
Good luck

Also worthwhile doing a registry clean after this.

I have an install which I keep seperate and is my backup in case I make an "error" somewhere. Means you don't have to reinstall from scratch.

I tried uninstalling it with the add/remove programs and the game startup menu. The uninstall with the game startup menue seems to get stuck on "validating uninstall". I don't know what is happening.

Install it over the old install, then uninstall it... sometimes that works... if not, go into registry and wipe out the entries... save your registry before you do this... it isn't hard, just time consuming..

I assume that by "wiping out the entries" I am deleting the entire Il-2 file folder, just like any other folder?

Ok, so my attempts to install thr game over the existing files isn't working. Can I just delete the Il-2 file and get rid of the game that way?

no because deleting the files will still leave entries in the system registry. editing the registry manually is risky if you aren't sure of it. you could try a registry cleaner, like reg cleaner. but make sure to BACK-UP before you use it. if the entries are still in the registry, Windows will still think the game is there. so uninstall the game, delete game folder, and run reg cleaner. good luck!

well, whenever I insert the disk and the menue comes up, it is the menue for when you are installing the game. so I try installing it over the existing copy, but it comes back with a error message. there has got to be another way to get rid of it

so if I deleted the Il-2 file, how would I get rid of the registry entries?
