What does EAXON and EAXOFF do?
#1

Hi!

Time ago I like to know what this files do , now I have time to couple it so:

In my IL2 root , into the files folder , I find two folder named EAXON and EAXOFF , inside are a lot of file like FM but I'm not sure about them. In the IL2 root there are two ms-dos files named EAXON and EAXOFF.

Can someone tell me from where they arrive and what they do in the sim?

Regards

Just a guesstimate, but you have the option in IL2setup.exe to choose if you want to use the soundcard effects API called EAX.

This is a wiki page on EAX

A3D (Aureal) was another superior Audio Extension (it used "wave"tracing), but since Creative had an almost monopoly on the soundcard market back then, it didn't survive.

... they are just two versions of sound files ( their properties .prs files to be exact ) adjusted to bring the most for both game-sound options : audio enhancements and hardware acceleration on/off

... make sure that your sound card supports EAX though

Hi!

I haven't any sound card because I usually use hearphone when playing (so I don't bother my family with hig level of war sounds!) and I have tryed to disable them by the '-' before and nothing appear so I'm thinking to delete them at all!

I believed that thos folder were installed by the first UI or by some previous installation and essential files in the sim but if those folder 'don't work' they are in surplus!

I'll backup in a temp location for insurance!

ABOUT SOUND SETUP:

I'havent yet cecked the settings because I'm out of home now!
I'll check them and reply about!

Many THANKS for your reply!!

Have an HAPPY EASTER!!!

... you do have sound card , it's just integrated in your MB (Motherboard) so see its preferences

EAX off : is recommended option for integrated sound cards (well, for most of them anyway)

Happy Easter to you too Big Grin
