Smoke mods causing stuttering
#1

I have tried two cinematic style smoke mods with heavy black smoke recently (Failures smoke and bomb mod) and an effects pack which was a collection of mods made by multiple authors. Anyway whenever these effects come into play in the game such as firing cannons at the ground or shooting at an airplane. The game freezes and then will continue on after about 2 minutes. I run the game on full graphics settings and 1396 X 768 resolution my computer is running at 1.8GHz with 1.0GB RAM with an ATI Radeon X1650 Pro. The game runs perfectly smooth without the smoke mods but when I have them on it stutters and freezes. Could the smoke mods really be pushing my computer over the edge and slowing it down that much. Are there smoke effects files from the original game that I need to disable? The only other mods I'm running right now are Flushy's cloud mod V1 and Avala's new oil blotch. I am also only running on 4.08M. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

The smokes mods are known to cause framerate issues. Even on my Quad Core with a GTX260, I get issues with some of them. With your system, I don't recommend running these mods at all (especially when large formations of bombers are on screen)

I guess I'm going to have to upgrade my computer eventually. But in the mean time thanks Paulo that intermittent fire and smoke mod works great. Thanks for all the help.
