I have 15 years of flight sim experience, but I can't manage to land a B-17 decently. I can't find a speed whre it descends. It's too fast, I have to nose down, then suddenly it stalls, and one of the wings drop...Could someone teach me? Thanks!
The FM's of the former AI only aircraft is not as sophisticated as in the others. But unless we get a new slot B17 this is not likely to change. I find using less flaps on landing helps to prevent excessive lift.
Also not putting the wheels down makes it stop quicker
i just land it but it normaly breaks in halve
I find a slightly lower angle of approach works. First few times I tried to land it, I kept on forgeting how tall the thing is!!
I like to make a long, shallow approach.
Open rads all the way, 100% prop pitch, gear down, and takeoff flaps. Trimming up as I slow down. ( it seams like landing flaps take forever to get it on the ground)
Touch down about 95 mph.
i sometimes land only with combat flaps, take-off flaps at the most...
i can land it fine, with three engines surviving, but one wing always dips as i touch down, and i wreck the prop on the outside engine of that side
But its a landing of sorts
Glad to know I'm not the only one with all the above problems.
How to land a Bomber very rapidly in 3 steps:
1- Shoot it
2- Shoot it
3- Well Shoot it
I defy you to find a more speedy way!
:-)
When de flaps are in the landing position keep adjusting the speed and use the rudder to keep it line-up. I think the best speed is around 160-165 km to land in the game.
Thank you gents! I guess it was the flaps...with t/o flaps I can land her pretty neatly now 8)
