Can't record NTRK's.....anyone know of a reason/mod why not?
#1

Hi gents
discovered this a few days ago, and can't seem to find the cause. If i fly a QMB mission, i'm unable to record NTRK's. If i press the 'record' button, it comes up with a HUD message: Track not saved'
Anyone have any idea if this is because of a mod, or what? :?:

Not sure, but when flying something cobbled together in QMB, I only save the tracks after I've finished the mission and am on the outcome screen. Does that work for you?

yeh, rossmum, i can save them like that, but that way you record a TRK file, which, if they didn't have compatibility issues with every different version of the game BEFORE modding was a part of IL2, i shudder to think what the issues will be now... 8) Big Grin
another MAJOR issue with TRK files is that you can't rely on their replays - you will often find that TRK files do not replay the mission as it happened. You end up with planes shooting at ghosts, crashing into the ground, all kinds of weird and wonderful things...
an NTRK track saves it as it happens...you will be guaranteed that hte replay will be exactly what happened, and they are also more 'user-friendly', i.e; you can save them, and give 'em to some buddies to watch, and they will probably be able to watch it (i say probably, because with all the modding going on, who knows?)
anyways, back to my issue - i've tested it some more, and doesn't seem to be a permanent condition. Sometimes i can still record NTRK's, and it works fine. there might be something else influencing the NTRK recording ability - maybe a new map/AC/something or other, i don't know ....
So, not an urgent issue, but if anyone knows what might cause this, please let me know?
Cheers 8)

Check to make sure that your key is mapped still. I've noticed that in a couple of add-on mods have changed my keys and the way they were mapped. Then delete all of your ntraks or remove them to you desktop. Then try to save one again. If that dont work may try to map it to a different key. Good luck let us know if you fix it.

Nah, that's not it, Badger - that was the 1st thing i tried when i had the problem. it's odd, though - it seems to happen almost randomly, the more i test....it'll work on one mission, and not the next? Confusedhock:
i'll post if i find a specific cause....

I had a similar problem with ntrk files - when pressing the 'q' I just got the message 'not saved'. I deleted a lot of the tracks I didn't need and that fixed the problem for me. I assumed that renaming them to something other than quick####.ntrk might have had the same effect. but I don't know for sure.

This happened to me about twice, so far. But when I played the same mission later again, it was OK.
I have none explanation.

Laziness is the mother of progress. My QMB missions can be found here:
