Hi again guys ( sorry about two threads back to back, Im not sure about board ettiquette at AAA but I hope this isnt frowned upon )

The Mosquito in its F.B VI form benefitted from increased boost ratings as the war progressed. Would it be possible to have a 1944 Mosquito F.B VI ? Or even a Merlin 60's series Mosquito Nightfighter variant?

I dont have good links to sources at the moment but im sure it is a subject that data could be collated for. During the V1 campaign against Britain the Mosquito was the 2nd highest scoring aircraft after the Hawker Tempest. This would mean it was capable of achieving speeds of around the V1 which would be around 380/400 mph at low altitudes.

i wouldn't go so far as to say it's been neglected, after all, we have a new model, with new loadouts and a new cockpit (repaint)..... 8)
but i agree, it would be nice to see another variant of this beaut. my guess is it will happen eventually, there are other projects in the queue at the moment, though...

A rocket equipped late war Mosquito VI would be great and also a Mosquito XVIII Tsetse, which is basically a MK VI with a 57 mm cannon. I need both planes to update my Norway Dgen campaign I have released at M4T some month ago.

Really? I've outrun both of those on a regular basis. The only ones I cant outrun is the 190's for some reason.

The Mosquito F.B VI we already have can outrun all German fighters at low altitude until the Fw 190 A5 appears. Even then its not clear cut because the Mosquito has better radiators and can run run for longer before overheat.

I can get it up to 556 km/h at sea level.

The Mosquito late war I reckon could hit 600 km/h at sea level

The early Mosquito VI we have in the game used the Rolls-Royce Merlin 21 engine with 1280 hp and the Merlin 23 with 1390 hp. The late war Mosquito VI version used the more powerful Merlin 24 engine with 1620 hp and it was able to carry rockets.

One of the hottest Mosquitos was the MkXIII nightfighter, some of which were fitted with nitrous oxide injection to boost the power of their Merlin 25s (for three minutes). The equipment was supplied in 1944 specifically to counter fast intruders over Britain, such as 190s, Me 410s and V1s.
There is a pilot's account of how the equipment was used, and what it looked like, in Armand van Ishoven's "The Luftwaffe in The Battle of Britain". [Basically, there was a manually operated valve and gas tank in the cockpit, with copper piping leading to the engines].

These engines ordinarily had a combat power (5 minute rating) of 1630 h.p at 18lbs boost in medium gear at 2,500 ft, falling to 1,510 h.p at 9,250 ft (at +18 lbs) - so the aircraft were optimised to be fast at low to medium altitudes. I don't have figures for the power boost they received with the addition of N2O injection, unfortunately.

The only difficulty is that these Mossies were the first aircraft to be fitted with spinning parabolic dish antennae (for the AI Mk VIII radar), meaning that they had rather bulbous noses, in several variations. It would mean some 3D work....
