When I move my head forward (lean forward in my seat) far enough the fov of view automatically changes to fov30 as if I depressed a key or joystick button. It will stay on fov30 even if I lean back or away. The only way to get out of fov30 when this occurs is if I depress a key or joystick button to force it to either fov7 or fov90.
This is only occurring in IL2 1946. It does not happen in Aces High II nor in Combat Flight Simulator 3.
Any ideas why this happens?
Can this be fixed (disabling the z-axis in TrackIr is not fixing the problem)?
Nothing worse than trying to pull lead on a bandit and leaning forward, up and to one side to keep the enemy in view and having your view change so it appears like you have your face pushed against the glass and the bandit is not in your field of view.

I have same trouble so have assigned a button controller to normal FOV.

I have buttons assigned to fix the problem, but would rather see the z-axis problem fixed. In other words I should be able to move my head anywhere (and in any direction) inside the confines of the cockpit and the fov should not increase or decrease regardless of my direction of sight unless I toggle the change.
Currently I have buttons assigned for the below views:
fov30=Wide View
fov70=Normal View
fov90=Gunsight View
cockpitaim=Toggle Gunsight (disables x, y & z axis until toggled off)

unfortunately if you read the read me; it explains that . This was the only option to get it to work fully... 8)
~S~ all . i had issues with the 6dof Z axis working satisfactorily, was irritating me to no end so i disabled the Z axis in the tracker profile and use the keys on the keyboard, seemed a better solution than fighting it.

To which read me are you referring?
The 6DOF mod is part of the unified installer and there is not an explanation or read me file of every mod they included. So a link to the read me would be handy indeed.
The problem with disabling the z-axis is you lose some of the rear quarter view when your head is stuck in one position and also you lose the ability to move forward and backward to look around the canopy bars in framed canopies like the P-38 and P-40. I will live with the problems before disabling this axis. Maybe someone has had a fresh look at this issue and found out how to fix it.

Maybe he's referring to the first post for the 6DoF Tracker mod, or the readme is included in that download?:
(The link is inoperative)

Is it possible then to eliminate the zoom view altogether?
I mean it isn't too realistic to begin with. A pilot didn't move his head forward to to make the windscreen act like a magnifying glass or binoculars. Don't take it wrong, the zoom view is a neat feature when viewing a trak, but in flight I would like to be able to disable it if it is possible.
