Damage Mod?
#1

I have read through most of the mods thread and maybe I missed it but I was wondering if there is a mod for damage? It sometimes seems to me that its too easy to shoot down planes, even bombers, with a very short burst.

You can shoot bombbers down easily IRL if you hit into the right place....

I'm afraid no such mods are allowed here... except if you are planning a new slot a/c

Maybe you should try the AI mod? Damage Model is the same but it's more difficult so shoot down aircrafts because they use other tactics.

Yup, modding the damage models on aircraft is forbidden. BUt improving the ai to make them less inclined to hit the silk at the earliest moment, or make them more adept at returning fire or manoevering to avoid fire is something of a way around the problem. Or maybe you're using an aircraft that's simply very powerful. With 4 30mm cannon, the Me262 doesn't struggle to shoot bombers down if the pilot's a good shot; the Me410 can, if you pick the correct load out, carry a ridiculous amount of guns and cannon and is good for knocking stuff out of the sky too.

Annoying the annoying, so you don't have to.

One good pass on an He-111 is all you need if you hit it right where your guns converge, and hose the engine or cockpit, although I admit that it can be hard to make a good pass underfire and at speed.

But, 311_Tank has a point -- if you find it easy to shoot down bombers, pick a weaker or older aircraft and pick a later, stronger bomber!

Annoying the annoying, so you don't have to.

If in your options you are selecting relistic gunfire off, it not only make the round fly flat, but it make it have like 200% damage. Try playing on full real setting and see how many heavy bombers you down before you run out of ammo.

Stop flying the bf109 w/ 108 cannons and maybe it might be harder to shoot down something. Big Grin

The fact is that the tracer on the .303's is so badly modelled, that you have to squint to see where the tracer converges. I fly the early spit and hurrris almost exclusively, and I find that if I step into an aircraft like a spit mark Vb, I can get kills with every burst. If the tracer on the .303's and 50cals had the smoke effects; getting kills would be so much easier

However, as has been said, if you hit the plane in the right place with any ammo-a kill should be inevitable
