Desert Tanks Anyone UPdate

These are not by all means perfect,so all of you tank experts please forgive me. The tanks are for my personal use and thought I would share them with you folks.If you like them and can use them great, if you dont like them for any reason thats OK too, cause I enjoyed modding them. The polys on some tanks are a little on the heavy side ,some are within limits.I tryed my best to keep poly count low with same detail. Max program is a huge program so there things Ive learnt later that I could of used at the start of my project.

The lee/grant java work, thanks to Charlie Chap and Boser for their great work, inspired me to do some modding. In future I tend to mod some italian tanks, but for now because these took a while, my wife says to take a break Wink wink and get back to the home renos.

I really like ww2 desert warfare senerios with the awesome maps made by some of the map makers here. These tanks are from the fabulous tanks of Tow makers, so all credit goes to these guys for their creation,I merely just incoporated them into IL2 for my liking.

How they are done is they are stripped down and applied to original IL2 hooks, lod, shadows, etc.... then apply proper mapping UVs so they would work in the game.

I would love you feedback how they run in your game, In my game [offline only] the higher poly tank are tested on the Lybia map about 30 tanks and 8 AC without problem on a mediocure PC. I like to make small sensrio missions also.

PS, these are WIP Beta Product. A warning of all armor originals change to mod loaded type. Yes I know there not new tanks but hopeful somebody can incorporate them into new slots one day. I also have other ideas Im tinkering with such as artilery.

I have a Tiger Vl E an almost rush finished US halftrack I dont like the wheels could use more time put into it.I did give the guys some rifles an mgs instead of looking like sight-seers. The grant is ready also, but I ve got a bug that has to be fixed. I ll release it as is with the others, maybe you fellows can sort out the problem. Heres the the problem, the grant has on its bow or front side a heavy reflective shine obviously due to lighting. I ve tryed a few things with no corrective results, if you can figure it out ,I may have to talk with Avala the lighting guru.I plan to make more skin variations for each single release, different theatres. Also some updated Artillery pieces, with time permitting of course.
All textures indexed for smallest files thanks to Avala' advice. Some have more textures included such as winter and other summer, try them and have fun.

The tank on the image looks much better then the original and im going to test this one.

Id love if you did something with the artillery.. make coastal guns??Wink wink wink..
Why i ask about the last is that we have a few bunkers ingame but you cant use them together with the guns. they just dont fire..bummer..
So it looks kinda daft when been using alot of time making a campaign and the coastal fortresses are useless.
If you make artillery i hope you would be able to as with the AAA guns where its possible to sett max firing distanse as some people dont want the guns to fire off the maps..that the boats allready can do this is something they havent thought about at all.

I dont have a chief ini so where do i place the text thats in the chief ini ?
Tryed to just make the chief ini text to a chief ini but my game only crashes..

I have some bug with Half Track, with hi datailed crew in FMB. With low poly crew work ok.

:oops: Confusedhock: OHH Crap, did I release that one with the pack. I am sorry guys that was obviously experimental only. It did not work on my medium powered rig, it could, but doughtful on some of the newer PC rigs of today. I was mostly curious to see if it even rendered in the game. Again sorry Ranwers, and dis-re-guard that one. :oops: Oh well I Tried.

I love these vehicles; they look great.. But all of the Opel trucks make my game crash.
The tanks just work fine.
One thing I have noticed is that the tga files for the Opel trucks seem to have a different size from other vehicles and tanks.
Could this be an ATI issue? (I have an ATI video card)
If so; to what size should I scale these?

Hi panzerkeil, I tested them and they seem fine :? . I will try and find the problem for you if I can, but mean while, first I must ask, Any body else have the say problem, please post if you do.
