I installed the 4.09 mod, the mod activator, the english language fix and the mod switcher but the game isn't working anymore: what should I do?

Sadly, you did it wrong Sad
The right order is:

1. Install Il-2
2. Install 4.08 patch
3. Install AAA UI (Unified installer) 1.1
4. Use the mod switcher in the game main folder
5. Done!

I think you probably forgot to install 4.08 first? luckily if you instal it now, then 4.09 again - then the english language fix and mod activator you should be good to go. Hopefully.

in order i installed: MOD_Activator English_Career_Language_Fix and 4.09... so I have to install the game again? ok I try to install 4.08 but the strange thing is that the main screen at the beginning says "4.08 mod"

No, install 4.08 now, then 4.09 then mod activator, english language fix etc.

now it crashes at 60% instead of 5%, I installed 4.08 and the mod activator only
the same installing 4.08 then 4.09 then mod activator

According to this thread:
(The link is inoperative)

correct order is:
1. IL2 Sturmovik 1946 patched to 4.08
2. Mod-Activator
3. 4.09_Mod_b1m

Note that 4.09b1m is NOT MOD! 4.09b1m is stock unmodded beta patch from 1C Maddox. Don't get them mixed up!

ok so now i'm reinstalling it, once reinstalled i have to: install 4.08 (il2_1946_408m) install mod activator (MOD_Activator_v5_2_IL2_4_08) and then install 4.09 (409_MOD_b1m) and that's all right?

Well, all I can say is that's what that thread is saying. Keep in mind, that Mod Activator in step 2 is for people who want to install MODS, but don't want the new sounds. I only listed it because you said you installed Mod Activator in the first place. If you also want the new sounds, then you should install an Eng_Sound_Mod in step 2, see here: (The link is inoperative), instead of Mod Activator.

Personally, I did not go that route. I did what cnopicilin did, and installed the Unified Installer 1.1 over my patched 4.08m. The Unified Installer gives you new sounds, plus 4.09 Mod b1m, plus a switcher, and a poop-load of new planes.

so after the 4.08 i can choose between unified installer with mod activator and 4.09 with mod activator (or sounds instead of mod activator)?

make sure you have a back-up handy!

Once you have a stock, patched 4.08m game, and made a backup of it (thanks bf109boy) you can do:

OPTION A
1. Mod Activator: (The link is inoperative)
2. 4.09_Mod_b1m: (The link is inoperative)

This will give you some new planes, ability to add MODS, a modded 4.09b1m, and a switcher to switch between 4.08 and 4.09, but no new sounds.

OPTION B
1. ENG_Sound_mod: (The link is inoperative)
(there are several versions of this, and after installing, you must install wrapper and a/c installer)
2. 4.09_Mod_b1m: (The link is inoperative)

This will give you same as above, PLUS new sounds.

OPTION C (c for cnopicilin Smile )
1. Unified Installer v1.1: (The link is inoperative)
(this is an eight part download .rar archive)
Do not click the "Download-here" link at the top of that thread, scroll down to find the 8 parts and instructions
2. Unified Installer patch v1: (The link is inoperative)

This will give you everything in B, PLUS many more new planes and maps.

Whatever route you choose, please read carefully all instructions in the appropriate thread. I am just summarizing here.
