Plese, I am new of the MODS.
In which part of this beautiful site, can I find the basic guide (step-by-step) about how installing MODS.
I suppose there should be a basic program and then the instructions about how add further aircraft, cockpits etc.
What I have read for the moment seems to presuppose an advanced knowledge of how the MODS are working...

The Unified Installer is your best bet when new to modding IL2
From there try and stick with mods that come with self installers until you get familiar with the file structure.

I have gone to the first link, but there I find several mirrors and o lot of complex and not univocal instructions, referring to the download and installation.
Furthermore I think that some items are for online playing and this is not my case.
I do not feel safe to do well.
Until there is a simple and complete add-on system, I prefer not to risk compromising my IL2 Sturmovik 46 v. 4.09 bm.
The UI Installer is very easy to use once you have completed the download.
If using Vista install to C:\Games not to C:\Program Files --- This is to get around Vista permissions problems.
Install your IL-2 1946 DVD --- This gives you v4.07m
Install the official 4.08m patch from UBI --- This gives you v4.08m
Do not install the official 4.09b1 patch.
Now add the Universal Installer, UI 1.1
UI 1.1 comes in 8 sections. Make sure that you have complete downloads for each section.
part01 should be 256103kb, parts02-07 256000, part08 27042kb.
If any parts are the wrong size then repeat the download of that part.
If you have a poor internet connection corrupt downloads are not uncommon.
Select Mirror1 to use. Here is the link to it - (The link is inoperative)
The other mirrors provide exactly the same files but just help to spread the workload.
Save all 8 parts to the same temporary folder.
Run part01. That's all you have to do. The installer calls up the other parts.
To make use of the game easy make two shortcuts on your desktop.
il2fb.exe --- This is the game start application for normal use.
Il2VersionSwitcher.exe ---- This is an excellent version switching utility.
Make sure its all working --- Then finally apply the patch from here (The link is inoperative)
