Actual movie footage from Darwin 1942
#1

I have had this little gem for a little while now and thought I would share it with you all. This was prompted by the brilliant Darwin map by Neil Lowe. I have served in Darwin in the Australian Army and recently was involved in the first joint US and AUS built airstrip in the Northern Territory, since the 1940's. I am very impressed with the map and I can readily identify almost all of the map flying over it. Just cannot see my house yet Confusedhock:

The film includes, still shots, actual color filming as well as B & W, from Feb 19 1942, and interviews with survivors. The main focus is on the first bombings.

Ok, the file is in 7 parts.
Download all parts into one folder,
Select part one and extract it to where ever you prefer, or just right click and select "extract here". There is a password to extract, it is 1942 This is a self extracting RAR file and will automatically pick up the other six files.
Once completed you should have an AVI file ready to watch.

The AVI runs for approximately 23 minutes.

Hope you enjoy it. Oh, my rapidshare account is valid till 27 October so links should be good till then.

Hiya Beachy,

Thanx for posting these Smile

Can't wait to have a look at them, I'm having issues with Rapidshare though ATM. So I'll d'load these asap.

Glad you're enjoying the map, I'm still working on the new version regularly, with breaks in between enjoying lots of the new stuff being released.

Nice to see another South Aussie here too Wink

Thanx again,

Cheers, Neil Smile

Hey Neil, if you are in SA, I could post you a copy of the Darwin thing on Disc. I am in Mt Barker if that helps.
