Has anyone done any missions from this film?
The bridges were actually at Majon-ni and Changnim-Ni in north Korea. I know the flim was about a rescure mission but some bombing missions could be made for this area.
Is there a carrier that would work for the Panthers?
A squadmate made the same request. After scouring the Korea Map in U.I. 1.2, I found that bridges (let alone rail bridges) are few and far between on the map. IL-2 bridges are nothing like the tall structures in the movie. The two historical locales are represented on the map, but either have no rail bridges, or are open flat areas not like in the movie. So I opted to make something very loosely based on the film.
I did find a nice valley location at the NE area. Oddly enough, the little town there is named "Koto Ri", so it had to be done!Again, there are no railways or bridges there, so it is a supply depot which must be bombed, with lots of AAA defending it.
Panthers take off from an Essex class CV offshore. Using the catapult boost option in the mission file, there is no problem taking a fully loaded Panther off the deck. F4Us are also available to go after the AAA, while the Panthers bomb the depot.
Some AI Yak-9s patrol the area.
