[Request] Civilian population

My big addiction now is campaign building, and I am using the hound out of the new pilots, Soldiers, and even the farm animals. I noticed the one thing missing was the civilian populis of these cities I am creating to blow up. If the artists who created all these objects for the FMB would make some non-combatants to add I could die a happy man. Also, if there is a way to put a bunch on the map ay once, I am all ears.
Merry Christmas to all,
George

Ha ha ... I wonder if the civilians would die happy too ...

Seriously though, for the game it would be great addition. That's why things like cargo ships, passenger ships and the like are always necessary for a sim like this. Wars are not fought in a clean arena, but intrudes upon civilians to a huge degree.

YOu want civillians in Il 2? You are watching to many Gulf-war dokus! What comes next? Road-tankers of Kundus?

I'm not sure what Road tankers of Kundus even are.

Many requests are made by members here, usually as a suggestion, or a hint, but usually nothing comes of it. But that aside, since in WWII civilians formed a large percentage, if not the majority of casualties, I see nothing inherently wrong in asking that a civilian presence in the game be upped just a tiny bit, be it in the way of adding civilians as an infantry mod addition, or in the use of vehicles. It could only enhance the 'realism' factor a bit more.

Civilian casualties would mostly take place indoors, from bombs penetrating shelters, or collapsing buildings, or fires.

They would not be running around the streets during the attack.

To get into more detail then - what about fire-fighters, air raid wardens, red cross helpers, ambulance drivers, policemen, people panicking or dazed and shocked, those escaping from burning buildings and so on?

You wouldn't see any of this from the heights at which heavy bombers flew, but what about in low level bombing ... or what about being able to place farmers in open fields? No air raid shelters or cellars nearby for them. Or if you are into early war scenarios - Fall of France and that - then there were uncounted numbers of refugees on the road. Imagine civilians running away from vehicles in droves as they are bombed by Stukas or strafed by low-fliers.

I would say there are many many possibilities in this. And none of them far-fetched.

Not sure what your babbling on about there Batbomb, I am a Vet of the Gulf war, so there was no need to "watch" it and never heard or any of that crap your rattling on about.... I just asked for a simple mod, not stepping on ANY toes, I have valid reasons for wanting a civilian mod, which does deal with the historical aspect of missions, whether it be bombing raids or whatever, I take my time with my off-line campaigns and try to draw a refrence from actual history, which sadly enough involves civilians (or what folks in the military refer to sometimes as collateral damage) If you think it's all tripe, then it's your business, just lay off of me and my requests, it's none of your affair to reply that negativity unless you are one who craves attention and has to try and belittle someone to make their selves feel more important. If you bother to open a history book, you will notice folks in it during the period who did not wear uniforms.... those batbomb are civilians, and like some have posted they played a huge part in the whole affair. Now, I think I would like to request some civilian objects for the FMB, anyone know if there are any in the works? Or if someone can point me to the right file, heck, i'll have a go at em, some fella made cows, so I am sure I could figure it out.....NOT.

It would not necessarily be for the attack side, I am looking for more of an eyecandy sort of thing for my campaigns, farmers in the field, air raid wardens, nurses, business types, females, makes, children.... they have cows as objects, and floral displays, I think it would add dimension to the whole battle field, not just the part where massive bombs fall on em.

Exactly what I am talking about!!! Glad to see someone with a multi dimensional perspective on the ambiance in missions.

Maybe he wants to put a bunch of spectators in the stands at the airshow or airraces. Maybe some naked sunbathers to buzz along the beach, etc....

would love to be able to fly over a fence on the edge of an airfield with some civillian population placed as though they're watching on Canon's Channel map. Would add so much to the sim imho. You could make them as indestructible as the soldier models too!

Annoying the annoying, so you don't have to.
