Hi,
I am a bit confused with the "official 4.09 patch VS. unified installer 1.2" matter. I waited for the patch to be released cause I thought UI 1.2 will use it as "a base". However, reading the thread about UI 1.2 installation I learnt that it actually installs over UI 1.1 and 4.08 patch...
My question is: are the features from the official 4.09 patch present and/or modded in the UI 1.2? If not, what are the elements that were omitted (present in 4.09 but not implemented in UI 1.2).
I would be grateful for your help!
Thanks
PS. or perhaps there is something like 1.3 comming - a standalone verison that would instll over official 4.09???
Hi mangabug,
The reason was that 4.09m was released somewhat very close and unexceptantly to that of UI1.2, hence it did not support it. Anyway, UI1.2 has been supersceeded and all content has been added to HSFX4.1, another community mod pack. Search it up on google and grab that instead. Sure it is a big download but it is one of the best community mod pack ever made.
Enjoy!
UltraPack 1.8 uses HSFX 4.0 as a basis (common SFS files), but then adds 30 different planes that HSFX 4.0/4.1 does not have.
HSFX 4.0/4.1 is designed specifically to play SEOW, but can be used by others to play online too. UP 1.8 is designed more for the general public (onlie or offline) use and is set up for easier modding than HSFX.
You will find a number of people here at AAA are pushing HSFX because it is in cooperation with HSFX, but not UP 1.8 (even though UP 1.8 has more in it than HSFX).

Please help me out here because I really dont understand. " HAS MORE IN IT" . How much more do you want?
HSFX has what 400+ planes and about anythin else anyone would want.
HOW many of those 400+ planes and things do you REALLY use???
Myself I know if I use maybe and thats a BIG maybe. 15.
It all comes down to what the server host has to pick from. :?: :?:
Some of the new updated Boeckle DGen campaigns are made for UP 1.8, not HSFX because HSFX does not have the required new planes included for his modded campaigns.
Since I do not fly online, I want just as many new planes as can be put into the new SFS files (if that answers your question) now and in the future. I do not want to be limited what one group (242 Squadron) wants. If you have ever read some of their posts, they will tell you up front that they have specifically rejected some planes/mods because it did not suit what they wanted to do with the game. As they wil tell you, HSFX is made specifically to fly SEOW, but anybody else can use it if they want. UP 1.8 on the other hand is made for the general public to use (online or offline) and can be modded far easier that HSFX. I also suspect when the upcoming UP 1.8 patch comes out (before Christmas), it will have even more new/improved planes or items that are still not in the HSFX series.
But since this is a free country, you can use which ever mod you want, and I chose to use the one with the most options and easiest to mod.
S~
Mangabug, my advice to you is to make a copy of your IL2 1946 folder and keep one for UI and one for HSFX and the like, yeah, HSFX is leading the pack on getting everyone on the same page for online play, but I like the UI mods that keep coming, and I haven't counted them out yet. This is all personal opinion and you don't have to if you don't want to, but it is just a suggestion.
Happy Holidays,
George

yep, guys i strongly recommend getting either the HSFX or Ultr@pack mod packs. One or t'other. UI 1.2 has been superceeded and future UI content is being worked into the HSFX mod pack, which is itself a base for the Ultr@Pack, which has a more online DF orientated mods system.
Annoying the annoying, so you don't have to.
Thanks everyone for this discussion. I am going to try both but since I play offline most of the time I'll probably stick to the UP 1.8l.
Thanks again!
