I have collected a bit of info on HMS Hermes with the intention of perhaps starting a model some time. There does not seem to be much available in the way of good line drawings. It is a long way down my list of projects so if anyone is keen to start it I'd be happy to pass on the info. My main interest is in the MTO which Hermes does not feature in.
Projects started:
Tribal Class Destroyer - released as WIP
HMS Eagle CV - in progress (current priority)
HMS Scylla LC - in progress (might change to HMS Dido - LOD0 model half done)
HMS Warspite BB - hull completed
HMS Ark Royal CV - need better drawings
Supermarine Walrus - needs some re-work and re-texturing

Asheshouse, I am currently reading a wonderful book by Alex Henshaw called, "Sigh for a Merlin". It is his memoir of his experiences as a production test pilot for Vickers/Supermarine. Anyway, in it there is a picture of a Walrus taking off from a carrier with no explanation in the caption. Was there ever a tail hook installed on that aircraft? Were they regularly operated off a carrier?
I have a few walrus publications and have never seen any references to tail hooks being fitted, but I have also seen photos of them being landed on carriers, I guess their low stalling speed allows them to land without arrestors?
Thanks for the offer of plans glbellair. I have collected quite a lot already. Enough to keep me busy, so please do not incurr any expence to obtain more. To do a decent model, in my view, you need to have plans which include hull lines, These are harder to come by than simple plans and elevations. For the HMS Eagle model which I am working on I bought a Profile Morskie publication which covers it in excellent detail.
