Camera MOD in HSFX
#1

Hi!

I like to make il2 movies (just a beginner Big Grin ).
Could someone give me a detailled help about how to install and enable the Zephyr Mod Camera?
Now I am using HSFX 4.1 and I have not dowloaded/installed any extra Mod yet.
I don't know exactly how many folders I should create, the correct patch and how to enable a Mod outside the Pack (via JSGME).
May this Camera Mod conflict with the HSFX?

Thank you for your attention!

just create a MODS folder and pop it in there and if HSFX wont star then delete it

I currently use Ultra Pack with the Uranium Effects Mod.

For me I can install the PAT_Mod through JGSME. The PAT_MOD folder is placed in my JGSMEMODS folder with the other mods, and I enable it first, then the other mods.

However I need to install it before I install the Uranium Effects Mod, or my game freezes up. Since I only use the camera MOD when not flying online, this is not a big problem.

The F8 and F9 for camera functions only work if your key set up is in the stock configuration. If you have changed your key layout, the two slots that effect the camera changes under controls are Chase View(F5) and Toggle Snap/Pan View (F9)

CHASE VIEW gives you various camera positions around your airplane. Keep pressing CHASE VIEW to change the camera positions. This mainly works just for your own airplane, though there is a workaround which I will explain latter.

TOGGLE SNAP/PAN VIEW changes the function that the camera can do in terms of movements. There are two functions, however one of the functions is different depending on the view you are using.

1st Function (for all views). This effects the camera's swivel and rotation. It is like the camera is attached to a tripod. By just moving the mouse you can tilt up & down, pan left & right, and combination of the two movements. With the moving of the mouse with the LMB pressed, the camera can now rotate clockwise and counter clockwise.

2nd Function

For EXTERNAL VIEW, NEXT ENEMY VIEW, NEXT FRIENDLY VIEW, and STATIC CAMERA VIEW

This is the classic camera movements. With the plane being the center (or the static camera placement), by moving the mouse you can crane up and down (the camera acts as if it is on the end of a see-saw) and rotates around the plane (or the static camera placement) like a turntable. By pressing the LMB while moving the mouse will allow you to dolly/move towards and away from the plane (or the static camera placement).

For CHASE VIEW

(The first view in CHASE VIEW does not have all these functions, but the views following do)
This opens up a whole world of possibilities. By moving the mouse, the camera moves straight up, down, left, and right (like your arrow keys). By pressing the LMB and moving the mouse you can dolly/move in and out, but whereas in the other views where the camera will stop before hitting an airplane, this function (except the first Chase View), allows you to dolly/move into, through, and past the airplane. Which means between this and function one, you can get views from inside the airplane if it is big enough, for example, looking over the shoulder of the the pilot and co-pilot as they fly their B-24j through a field of flak.

Now as I said earlier, the CHASE VIEW only works for the airplane you are flying, but there is a workaround for online games (I do not know about CO-OPs or Single Player Missions). For an online game, enter the server, pick a side and an airplane. Enter the game. Start recording your track. Exit the game without disconnecting from the server (the map room). Now, when you play the tracks, you need to use the NEXT ENEMY VIEW and NEXT FRIENDLY VIEW to go from plane to plane, but now when you press CHASE VIEW, you get all the camera positions and functions as if you are flying the airplane. Of course, you are not flying now are you. I do this with a second computer, with DSL it does not seem to affect my connection to the server.

Hope this helps

EDIT: Changed the term ZOOM (a process of the lens changing the field of view) to DOLLY/MOVE for the movement of the camera I actually meant.

You are welcome. The camera aspect of the Pat_Mod is awesome, and it gets one away from the airplane is always in the center of the picture.

For the views you get from CHASE VIEW, try to use them as starting points for your camera, not the be all for the camera shot.
