My first steps...

In just a few hours I've learnt to stretch and position and have made my first baby steps to modding, and yes...That is an Ar-196. I also found an error in the hier.him of the original game. The Parent line for the right flap is using the worng Parent. I'm yet to change it in mine but I just thought I may aswell try and correct the position for the wrong line. It was actually moved when I stretched the left wing. But I corrected it and shall change it to the correct line later. Which means changing the numbers back  and correcting it to read the right parent.Gosh, so technical.

My first attempt at modding before was trying to put a Radome on the Ar-196 lol. Didn't work so I just gave up. I'm gonna continue this plane and release after all the knowledge I will gain from making it. So thanks Anto for your bit of help. And thanks to everyone else over here for creating easy tutorials and programs.
After fiddling around more with the hier.him I hope to be able to give it a new slot but I will require some teaching for that.

So far what I do need help with is how to take objects such as antennas for radar or just an entire Radome from another plane and sticking it on another plane. And I also need to seperate the Parent for gear from the struts and the struts from my wing so I can size what I want and how just not relative to my wing.

So far I think I'm doing very well. Big Grin

Yes I will put it up when I'm done. I also plan to stretch the nose a little, thin out the floats and make them a bit longer aswell. Hopefully I can add some more guns to it and a New FM if I get that far. But remember, I'm only just beggining, so for now all you will see is differences in the 3D through hier.him editing. But it's pretty much a requirement before modders will pick you up to know that stuff so yeh.Hopefully the first thing I do after I'm finished with this 3D stuff though is give it a new slot. Still along way to go.. Big Grin

Looking good so far. Are you making it a random franken or a real plane?

What is the point of this project?

You have taken a perfectly good model and distorted it.

If the aim is simply to learn how the hier.him works then thats fine.

Talk of releasing the "finished" project is more difficult to comprehend.
Maybe I am misunderstanding your intentions.

Your on your way to becoming a Dr.Frankenstein!!
Mighty cool design dude. Your doing great.
I will suggest, to take a look at aircraft that have a similar shape and design as this Arado and
try to make teh changes to look like that particular airplane. In no time, you can say, I have designed
a whole NEW airplane to add to teh IL-2 game.
Many WW2 airplanes add similar designs, so this is a great start to becoming a great airplane-Mod artist.
Good luck with your Modding

This will just be some randomly cool franken that I will work on so I can learn how to mod, but I might make it slightly real. Then I will release it, If I get that far... Smile

UPDATE!

Made the engine bit longer because if I learn how to change engines and stuff then I will replace it with one twice as powerful and that one is about 2 Meteres long real so I accomadated for it in the model.

To change the engine you need to edit the FM. To edit the FM you need a lot of help and confidence.
