Hello everyone,
I would like that a modder create this fabulous VTOL aircraft : the FW Triebflügeljagër, which was never built. Here's what you helped:

I don't know if in IL-2 his reactors can turn around a propeller while "spitting" the blue flame of other jets in the game.
If you find the video's sound realistic for this plane, I could provide end in. wav, simply just integrated with a PRS file in the folder "sound".
As you have seen, there is a 3D format for GTA San Andreas. I could possibly ask the permission of the author so you can modify it a bit to make it compatible with IL-2. Thanks

Personally I don't find this plane fascinating at all and would rather see something like the Von Braun VTO.

Perhaps, but if no one finds it interesting enough to spend months on modded it, I can give them a 3D model , and it must just convert it and takes a little tweak to be convertible with IL-2, and for behavior, we take that's the Heinkel Lerche's behavior and just make it more powerful and heavier (I think). I soon ask the permission from the original author.

Perhaps, but the 3D model is already make, just add train's animation, eventually cockpit, and collisions damage, and some other things. I would have done well, but I can't understand the mods for IL-2 and I have'nt more space on my computer to install 3ds Max :oops:

But the 3D model isn't made for Il-2. If the models found from internet or the models from other games worked we'd have a lot more planes, and nobody would model them anymore.

Model in the wrong format firstly would need to be converted to .3ds (that would be the little tweak) then you can spend another month on it converting it to il2 standard, or better make one from scratch and it takes just as much time to optimise a model from other sims as starting from scratch. Then do all the LODs collision hooks etc... Importing is a b*tch and after you do that there's still another 3rd of the job to do....

I think the throttle control problem could be got around easily enough. There are several mechanisms that could do this. Take a look at a helicopter swashplate for example, it solves a much more complex problem without too much difficulty: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swashplate_...icopter%29

I can't see much point in making a mod of this though. I've never seen any logic in such designs, even if they could be made to work.

Good example, but I still don't see how it would work if you had to have the rotating plate on the outside, as it would be in this design. With a helicopter swashplate the moving parts are on the inside and are driven by the engine's drive shaft, which is in turn controlled by the pilot. Also with a helicopter there is no fuselage and cockpit positioned above the main rotor, nothing to interfere with the rotor's movement. In this aircraft design the engines are on the outside, as is the moving "ring" that the wings are attached to. There is no visible means to control the pitch of the wings (as on a helicopter) and no means to control fuel input from the pilot's throttle control to the engines in order to control thrust.
The engines appear to be some sort of ramjet- would they need to be started by ground crew and just run at full power until the fuel was spent? The engines could not possibly all run out of fuel at exactly the same time- what effect would that have, having one or two engines running and another just dead weight, wouldn't the airframe rip itself apart?

If you can imagine a swashplate with a rotating drum-shaped fairing fixed to the rotor blade shafts outside, you've got a mechanism that will control wing pitch (cyclic as well, if you want it. The mechanism isn't identical to a choppers, but the principal could stand. Using the swashplate for pitch would then seem to rule out throttle control etc, but in principle you can have multiple swashplates on a single shaft. Note that the outer component, with wings and engines, is freely rotating, unlike a helicopter - this simplifies things greatly.

I was assuming the power was from conventional turbojets. Ramjets were beyond contemporary technology, and no use in this context anyway. Did you mean pulsejets, as in a V1?

Absolutely. Plus as long as the Nazi leadership could keep such dreams alive, they could convince themselves they could win. Good for propaganda too - this faith in 'wonder-weapons' seems have found it's way into the general population too, by many accounts.
