coop bomber crew
#1

Is it possible for two multiplayers to share the same bomber, one as pilot the other as bombadier (bomb aimer)? I'm not aware of a MOD that does this and the best solution I can think of is to Set-Target two bombers and use the first one for pilot the second in Autopilot mode used for bomb aimer. It may also work with the second a/c as AI. I'd like the bomb aimer to help guide the pilot in the last few miles to target before using his Norden. It's a variant that I would like to play sometime; any ideas please?

Hi.
Not for now in any version of Il21946 or for me known mods. Sad
However the new patch to/or Version 4.10 from DT
we all are waiting for looks promissing and will have that function.
Anyone correct me if Im wrong here.
That will be fun and a great experience.
Regards Odin.

Thanks for quick response Odin. I'll look out for the release of 4.10 but, in the meantime, I'll try the two-linked-planes method.

Zuti MDS 1.2 beta has "crew joining" facility.

If you really mean multiplay coop missions (not dogfight) there should be no problem to fly in the same plane with your pal. There is no need for a special mod.
But if you fly dogfight missions, then you have to wait for the new Zuti mod - I think.

We are sometimes having fun with my friends flying two TB-3 bombers fighting against each other. During this "dogfight" there is a pilot and three gunners in each plane. But you have to do this in coop mission mode.

Thanks Jami, I know that one can crew a bomber with pilot and air gunners but I don't know of an aircraft where there is a pilot using PC and - 200 miles away on coop multiplay - the other guy is using his PC as the bombadier in the same aircraft. I think that the pilot/bombadier are mutually exclusive. I like the idea of one player directing his pilot accurately to target. If I'm wrong, please tell me an aircraft where two multiplayers can pilot and bomb-aim simultaneously.

I'm not sure if we are talking about the same thing, but we have flown several missions where I am a pilot and my friend (100 miles away using his PC) is a gunner (or vice versa) in the same plane.
Bombing we have tried only with Ju-88 where the pilot releases the bombs.

I've just carried out three simple two-player coop trials with He-111 -

(A) two aircraft available; player (1) chose nose-gunner station in front aircraft, player (2) chose pilot seat in rear aircraft
(B) two aircraft linked by 'Set Target' (like glider and tug or bomber and fighter escort); player (1) chose pilot (ready for change to bombadier) in front aircraft, player (2) chose pilot position in rear aircraft
© one aircraft with accompanying AI aircraft; player (1) chose pilot position (ready for change to bombadier) in front aircraft, player (2) chose pilot seat in rear aircraft

The idea was to establish a link between the bombadier in front aircraft who would accurately guide the pilot in rear aircraft. The pretence (its all pretend anyway) being that both players are in the same aircraft.

Of course, none of the trials worked as hoped.

(A) can't change from nose-gunner to bombadier, only from pilot to bombadier
(B) aircraft aren't linked once a pilot hops aboard the second aircraft
© similarly, the rear AI aircraft no longer follows the lead aircraft once it has a pilot aboard

Ok, now I understand what you mean. There should be a set of tactical commands for leading plane bombardier to guide other planes of the flight or/and squadron. Have tried the existing menu for giving orders to AI planes?
If that doesn't work then I don't know...
