Installing RAM memory ..
#1

just one small problem. Seems to be a contradictory statement.

I have a Gigagbyte Ga-870A-UD3 and I found a statment that says this:

Memory Standard
DDR3 1866(OC)/1333/1066
*To reach DDR3 1866MHz or above, you must install two memory modules and install them in the DDR3_3 and DDR3_4 memory sockets.

so acording to this you must install the two memory modules in socket 3 & 4.

In the motherboard manual it says a different story, - that you must put them in the like-color sockets - that is.. either: 1 & 3 or 2 & 4 socket.
what is the corect way?

Should be the way the manual says, but check on-line for an updated manual or 'insert' for the manual that you have (a revision).

Each memory channel on a standard MB normally consists of 2 slots.
All slots for a channel need to be filled in order for most boards to engage their respective high transfer modes (Double Data Rate, Ganged Mode etc).

Most MB manufacturers differentiate channels on the MB by a color code.
