Well why not, flying drones have been around for a long time, its just that computer technology needed to get up to the task so it was only a matter of time.

According to Wikipedia, the Drone could be a devastating weapon itself, even without carrying a warhead: launched into space and then driven down to ground at mach 20 or more, it would have the same effects of a meteor strike.

yep... they'be been discussing the kinetic (spelling?) steel spike weapon launched from space to earth for a long time now... supposedly horribly destructive and capable of destroying even deep underground, super reinforced bunkers.
