Hi,
These are images of a pack that I am making for the German side (Other countries will be coming). You see soldiers here but other personnel will be coming in the object pack, such as labor crew and so forth. These are very low polygonal number to help the simulator and so you can place them with probably no challenge I hope. They are meant only to be low detail and not really historically accurate, just so you got some little soldiers to place here or there and see from the air or driving a vehicle over there, kind of thing.
Anybody need to rent a firing squad? ....
The pack will work in Canvas Knights ( I will publish it soon ) as well as Vehicle Simulator right away so you can start making maps with them. In other words, you may make a map using Vehicle Simulator now and it will work in Canvas Knights.
Vehicle Simulator has all the tools that you need to start now.
More to come!

some of you will know me I think as Barnesy 12 from Freemodding to those I don't know hello I am looking forward to meeting you
this should be interesting I think im very pleased to be back and maybe share some of my meager works from freemodding here as well

ps is it always so dark in here? DM you really need to do something with the lights
3D bomb crater mod for IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 v4.09m
=============================================
Hi!
This mode consists of two parts one part will add new 3D crater to all bombs explosion in game
(version 4.09m) but might work with other versions too I guess, just test it!
part two will also add 6 new different 3D crater objects extracted from game version 4.12m as static
objects to your game, these new objects are:
Crater3d_Summer1
Crater3d_Summer2
Crater3d_Winter1
Crater3d_Winter2
Crater3d_Desert1
Crater3d_Desert2
You will get crater without straight edges as default when the bombs explode in game, see picture below.
** In part one i added alpha channel to the texture, to remove the straight edges in 3D model, if you do not
like it just replace the skin1o.tgb with attached texture called "without alpha channel_skin1o.tgb" and don't forget to rename it to "skin1o.tgb"
Limitation is that in winter and desert maps the 3D model does not fit in winter and desert environments with its summer texture!
the solution is to compromise at this time or any java guru add some java code to the class file/files that control the explosion so
that the game can change texture suitable for the seasons.
**All credits goes to TD (team daidalos) for main 3D and textures and me for changes and adjustments in
3D model to function in explosion part of the game.

New Missions with the new skins are on the way
Mission involving all the Fokker DR1s and all the Camels flying as a Camel Jock is finished
Another mission flying as a Dr 1 pilot (ala Werner Voss style) against all the variations of the SE 5as in slated for next to finish
Another one reworking the Ernst Hess mission by colorizing more of the Albatross D IIis
And maybe another one flying as Jasta 5 aces on patrol in DVs

To any and all Canvas Knights Skinners:
I am in the process of making a skin representing Harry Gwynne's "Flying Fish" for the Neiuport 17.
Here's what I have so far:
I'm ready to start WIP testing in game to test mapping, pattern alignments, colors, lighting etc. The problem is the skin in Paint Shop Pro 8 is 12Mb when reduced to 24 bit. Running BRIGHT gets it down to just over 4Mb. But skins in the Vehicles folder are only 1.14Mb.
So my skinning tools for IL-2 are of no help. How do I reduce to color depth to get the skin file to 1.14Mb and what tools/utilities do I need if I don't already have them?
Any and all help is very much appreciated.
This is my Keith Caldwell SE5A skin for Canvas Knights game.
New Zealand's highest scoring ace, with 25 victories to his credit, proved himself to be an extraordinary and resourceful leader. Whilst on a routine patrol in September 1918, Keith Logan 'Grid' Caldwell's 74 Sqd SE5a was involved in a mid-air collision with another SE5a, the impact breaking one of Caldwell's struts and destroying the aerodynamics of his aircraft, which promptly dropped 1,000 feet and went into a flat spin. Incredibly, Caldwell climbed from the cockpit of his stricken machine and held the broken strut together with his left hand whilst keeping his right hand on the joystick, somehow steering his wayward fighter out of danger and over friendly territory. With no hope of a safe landing, the Kiwi jumped clear of the SE5a just a second or so before it impacted with the ground. Astounded British soldiers in a nearby trench saw Caldwell stand, dust himself off and walk casually toward them like nothing happened. He returned to his unit and continued flying until the end of the war.

Hi,
Farm pack of mod objects that I made for Canvas Knights and Vehicle Simulator is here. Anybody who wants to add some farm life to their scenery (map) probably will like this one. The period is just before World War 1 France and traditional French rural buildings of that time. Images are tested on a map for CK that I am making, so I know they work for CK and VS.
Map makers of Canvas Knights enjoy!

FarmPack1
Unzip with folder names on, go inside the folders and take objects that you like with the texture (JPEG - .jpg) that is with it in the same folder. The fence comes in sections and pieces so you may customize and change them to fit terrain elevation with them in the Canvas Knights or Vehicle Simulator scenery Objects Design editor. (See first image above here.) All of the fence objects use only one texture in this pack, so one texture called "Fen1" (.jpg) and all the fence [model].xx pieces go into your commons folder of CK or VS. In the case of the fence pieces, they are made to have different names but use the same texture.
In the case of folders in this pack which have only one [model].xx file and one texture, you will notice that they have exactly the same name. This is how they are created by the artist for the VSF engine that CK and VS uses, in case anybody wants to create their own mods. The model file (ends in .xx) and the texture (ends in .jpg) go into the same folder, here again. (Usually just simply dropped into the "commons" folder together.)
A map scenery made in CK works in VS and the other way, too, because they share the same VSF software platform. The possibilities are huge for map making in CK with great tools and helps. Feel free to mod the textures in this pack for CK or VS. It is possible to make very different looking buildings by only modding the texture to your liking. Please share with the community here because we would love to see your work.
There are a couple READ-ME files which are good to read that you will find in my farm pack here.
There is another method for adding objects to a scenery and other information for handling map making and objects that can be found at hangsim.com, mainly in the Vehicle Simulator tutorials but in a couple other places there, too, in forum and involving other simulator by IIan Papini. The information is very useful.
After trying this, if you have any questions, then feel free to ask here in our friendly forum.
Map makers, I hope that you enjoy the efficient workflow with making a scenery for Canvas Knights
I would like to thank John Marco, the game designer of Canvas Knights, for all he does around here.
Have fun! :)
