FlakVierling 38
#1

Hi everybody!
This nasty piece of FlaK was pretty common, at least on the western front. AFAIK, no one ever tried to modellize it.
So, could one of you drop an eye on this topic, could make airfield attacks a bit more tricky.
Thanks and keep up the good work.
Cheers.

I thought that it was in-game? Although it is on a German half-track, I believe.

OK Arctic, thanks for moving.
RedChico, it's effectively present in the game, but on a half-track, not as a fixed artillery item. And a half track is a much bigger target than the FlaKVier38.

Ok then, it should be pretty easy then, chop it off the Sd.Kfz. 7 and create a crucifix mount.

Gents,

Unless you have a Mod I don't, the FlaKvierling 38 is not in the game per se, though it is the main armament on the FlaKPzIV/20 (Whirblewind) which is.
The halftrack (unarmoured) version of the FlaKvierling 38 was the Sdkfz 7/1 which is not in the original game, at least up until IL2-1946 v4.09Bm.
The FlaKvierling 38 (4 x 20mm cannon) was first built for the Kriegsmarine.
My reference source shows production figures as follows :
FlaKvierling 38 4x20mm (T) 3,806 in service with the Luftwaffe in Jan 1945
Sdkfz 7/1 (unarmoured halftrack) 319 Built
FlaKPzIV/20 (open topped armoured FlaK on PzkwIV chassis)) 105 Built (first use with Panzer Lehr in Normandy)

This thread does show us that the makings of several important weapon systems are in the game if not in all their forms, which means that there in game capability is already mapped, and an enterprising artist could provide a number of such interesting weapons/weapon systems with a little elbow grease - I unfortunately am no graphic artist.
Examples of what it seems to me could be readily available additions :
StuGIIIB StuGIII with the 75mm/L24 short howitzer used on ingame PzkwIVE, F1
SPW 251/9 SPW 251 with 75mm/L24 short howitzer of same

SPW 251/21 SPW 251 plus treble 15mm or 20mm cannon

Chico, should I be able to do it, I would not have posted a request, but a mod... Which I am 200% unable to achieve. So, consider it a kind request to fellow modders.
