IS this GETTING OUT OF hand???

How hard is it now? Either put minus sign in front of a folder in your Mods or simply delete what you don't want. With few exceptions it's easily done. I wish real life were so simple.

This is the dark side of modding, especially when it concerns the online aspect. There is not much you can do about it. Anyone with a little common sense knew that this would happen...it's inevitable. You either adapt to the situation or move on. It's that simple. You cannot change it and you can never go back. Pandora's Box has been opened.

Just remember...it's a game. If you're not having fun, it may be time to move on.

This is the same issue a lot of folks have with rfactor. Just to go racing, you have so many things you have to get right just to get in the race you want. I see your point. But I don't think, at least with IL2, it will ever be different. Sortof like the same game that exists on pc, xbox, ps3, but you can't all play in the same sandbox.

But I'll take this over nothing. I'm gonna poop when CK comes out. Just need a 20's/30's mod and I'm in heaven!

I guess what I would really like to see is a SIMPLE switcher.
.

il2 main, then shortcut the il2versionswitcher. simple.
and try jsgme for the mods

Saburo Sakai please tell me what you mean.
Being some what new to all this its NOT that easy if you dont know what your doing.
There are lot of new people here that do not know every thing about this game
as to how to shut down mods and all.
Please inform us.

Now we have 4.09m, UI1.1, UI 1.2 408m,4.08m+mods and with Canvas Knights JUST HOW BIG a H\D will
we all need??? Every day new mods come out and if you get all those it will take two hours just to load the game.
I have a very good computer and with the UI 1.2 I see it takes longer and longer to load.
It would be nice If we could just have 4.09m, 4.09m+mods, leave room here for CK.
I know CK will be BIGGGGGGGGGGGGG so where does it end?????
:?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:

lol

I don't understand why all the hassel some people make it out to be.

I have a copy of 4.09m and a copy of the UI1.2, which is really all i need to be up to date on the games and mods.
For now, i also have an older copy of Ui1.1, which i will be deleting in a week or so once i'm sure everything is running smoothly with 1.2

If you want to exaggerate or exasperate the issue, really its no different than using a switcher to get all those versions working under one folder. If you are that overwhelmed, i don't see how you could even mange to play the sim. Am i speaking too harshly, here? It just seems like common sense, thats all.

Well Bill if you have played this for a long time it may BE simple for you ,
But for the folks that are some what new to all this is it is any thing but simple.

Maybe it just helps to be simple -- or am I being to harsh here . :?:

Alot of this is relatively simple.. the vast majority of people on here arrived just like you, me included, and didn't have a clue what modding IL2 was about or how to impliment any mod.. They, like me, had to spend a good few days finding out about mods, learn what the file structure was all about and basicly learn through trial and error.. Wink
Once you go down the road of modding you have to forget the easy peasy approach of just installing auto patches from normal games, and be prepared to put some time and effort in by doing research on many of the pages provided here giving you a wealth of info on 'how to'..
Once you have got the basics on how to manualy install stuff you can pretty much pick and choose what you want to do and how to go about it.. its not rocket science as they say, but you have to have an open mind and put the effort in.. if people can't or won't because they want it all layed out on a plate for them, then this isn't the right road for them..
Yes there is loads of content here, but you don't have to have it all..
Give it a try anyway, and in a bit you will see and understand what its all about!

If you are using the version switch that is included in UI 1.2 as it was in UI 1.1 you can select one of six versions of the current game.

4.08m Standard (No MODS)
4.08m Mod (Adds the MODS minus the maps requiring 4.09b1 graphics)
4.08m Mod with 6DOF (This is for TrackIr or Free Track users minus the maps requiring 4.09b1 graphics)

4.09B1 Standard (No MODS)
4.09b1 Mod (Adds the MODS including the maps requiring 4.09b1 graphics)
4.09b1 Mod with 6DOF (Adds the MODS including the maps requiring 4.09b1 graphics for TrackIR and Free Track users

The Icon is in the root folder of IL-2 1946 and can be placed on your desktop for easy access to switch between the different versions that appear on HyperLobby. The only thing you can't do is switch between UI1.1 and UI 1.2. You will need two separate installs for this. There is a version switcher icon in each installation and if you copy each to your desktop they will direct themselves to the appropriate UI version. So you see it is not too complicated.

And as others have said, if there is a mod which you do not wish to run then simply put a minus sign in front of the folder and it won't run.

Since 4.09m final came out approximately a week before the release of UI 1.2 there simply was not time to adapt the new unified installer to it. Eventually there will be a UI installer or patch to adapt the mods to the 4.09m final and the beta version 4.09b1 will go away. The goal was to have everyone using the same version to start out and be CRT2 compatible for online play.
