You have to be carefully if you talk about mods in TS.
Because
A lot of pilots think:
MODDING = CHEATING
In my home forum there was a big discussion when sound mod was available. A lot of pilots said that this sound mod is great. It also was a little kick into olegs direction. All the years we told him: Please make a better sound. Oleg only said: Buy a new soundcard.
But a lot of pilots said: This mod is not good for the community because community could be splitted. A lot of server put in "check runtime2" because they did not want to have pilots with soundmod on server. These pilots might be cheaters and they might use some hacks to be better pilots.
I personally like skinning. I want to give my bird a personal touch. I studied mechanical engineering at university and I like new technical performance and grafical style. I would like to optimize an object if there is any possibility.
Oleg and his team made a very good simulation for technically inspired warbird fans. But they had to build this simulation in an economically short time. The first version of this simulation started many years ago. The grafics where brilliant in that time but now they are old if you compare them with brand new games.
I joined this forum with mixed feelings because I did not want to be confrontated with cheats and other bad stuff. I only wanted to help making this simulation even better. I did not became disappointed. Pilots from all around the world come together, work together in teams to make something new. Spitfire pilots talk with focke wulf pilots about how to make new hangars. Wilcat and Zero pilots are working together. And in other forums these guys are declared as cheater gangsters.
If there could be a chance to show them, that they are wrong, please tell. I always try to talk with other pilots in a diplomatical way. I do not say, ok, i like this mod BUT I only play it offline. I tell them, that they dont have to be afraid if someone uses soundmod. There are A LOT OF more resett putton sitcher than cheaters in this community. Other pilots still think that you can cheat be permanently pressing the print screen button :roll:
My big wish is: Make an offical inoffical patch 5.0 with all this brand new stuff that has to be shown to the community. Hundreds of hours work are behind these mods. And they are so greatful. If loving mods is wrong I dont want to be right
