hopefully someone will take on building a realistic pit for this at some point,but that's alot of work -to put it mildly.

Probably also the torpedo's value should be altered, to give it more power. We have played a Midway campaign in SEOW, and the american carriers are really to much strong for the Val. It's impossible to sink them.

Personally i've changed Kate FM, and i use the previous tail gunner's version with machine gun visible, and now it's really a nice fly. We could have more succes attacking with Val and Kate the same target at the same time, but for my opinion...i repeat again...torpedo power must be increased a little.

Considering how many times we have asked Oleg to give us the Kate flyiable (for months), i think that this bird should have the priority in the modding community.
I am agreeing you for both, the FM change and the torpedo power increase. But not only the Kate and the Tenzan FM have to be change, the Avenger one have to be improve too :wink: . But this discussion is useless because of the AAA policy. Policy I understand and respect but in my opinion not applicable here because is not genuine flyable aircrafts :roll: .

Anyway, for the torpedo, the power of the warhead is not the real problem. Indeed the ship DM is to simple and increase the power of the torpedo will just be shortcut. I known it might be impossible to change the ship DM but we could try.

Beside today torpedo attack are too easy because of the dropping itself and the aiming. In fact, you could fly at very high speed and too high altitude to drop your spear and 100% of the torpedo works. But the real shame is the aiming; the boat does nothing to avoid the torpedo so you could lunch from very far. But that is another problem and we could try to find solution later.

To conclude, the cockpit issue is the same for most of the former IA aircraft. The work needed to change this fact is huge but I assume not impossible. The Japanese torpedo bombers are second on my to do list (JV69_Taurus=343KKT_Minoru Smile ). Unfortunately I can start to work on these projects until a while :oops: .

I'm working also on the torpedo values. Altered values is not allowed, but sometimes this does mean don't play at all.
An example, the italian MG SAFAT 12,7,
Macchi 200 is a very nice fighter, a real pleasure to fly: nice model, nice skin, superb cockpit ecc. ecc.. The problem is that this fighter is only nice for scenary, as static object. It's really impossible play it for ex. against Rata and Lagg-3. Because of this policy, we can't play it at all. No thank.
We are using hacked SAFAT, altered with real data, and now we can play Macchi. It's still very difficult shot down the enemy fighters, but at least we can...AFTER YEARS...play the maccaroni in IL2.

The same for the Kate.

As said above, we have played a Midway's campaign in SEOW. The japaneses were only a nice target for the US Navy. We couldn't sink at all the US carriers with Val. A ridiculous campaign were we lose one carrier for each mission, because of 4 SBD, when we couldn't do nothing with 14 Val, against american carriers like the Lexington. As you say, DM is probably the real problem.

So the policy to don't altered values in this kinde of situations is a nonsense. We are not talking about Spitfire or FW-190 FM.

Today we can't still play the Battle of Midway........

Personally because of it, i've added myself Kaga, Hiryu and Soryu (for SEOW), changed the FM for Kate and now i'm working on the torpedo values. My target is to give to the IJN players "the feeling to be dangerous" against the american fleet, and to the USN players "the feeling to be vulnerable". For this kinde of campaign, SBD is more than enough for US Navy.
