Departed the base in my P47 'Abandon All Hope' and linked up with two B17's and proceeded on a 090 heading for climb out. Once we reached 25,000 ft. the bombers turned in for target, (enemy airbase and shipping).
Well, there I am, flying along admiring the contrails coming off the bombers engines when all of a sudden one of the gunners calls out, "BANDITS, 6oc Low". I immediately flipped over on my back to do a belly check and sure enough, there's one lone BF109-G6 climbing up from the bombers low 8oc position. Since I was already upside down, I rolled the wings 90 degrees to the left and pulled her into sweeping right hand dive to come in from the sun, above and behind the 109. As I got closer, I couldn't believe my luck, this guy brought wing pods..... 8)
I don't think he ever saw me until it was too late. I dove in at over 620mph from his 5oc, pulled the trigger and watched the bullets rake his plane from his right wingtip to his canopy. His engine smoking and fuel streaming from his wing, I pulled up verticle to admire my handy work. His plane plummeted down from 20,000ft to the dirt in about 7 seconds. No chute..... poor bastard never had a chance.
Guess next time he'll look for the escorts...........

Though I fly through the valley of death, I will fear no evil.....
For I am the meanest SOB in the valley!
