[MOD] NewMat mod - Shining symbols and numbers Update to 2.3
#16

If there is single mat for 3D as you said it, I didn’t find it. Yes there is a tool for extracting files, SFS extractor

http://www.timqwerty.narod.ru

But not all files can be extracted. I think that is a brilliant idea for single 3D mat file, if it is possible.

About AlphaTestVal: I think that is not about transparency, more like with how much fidelity alpha channels will be rendered, alpha channels are parts of the textures that we actually don’t see, they are transparent. May I suggest to try to change it in markings mat files to 0.1 or 0.9 and to see the results? Maybe it would really be better, there is a chance.

hi Philip,
Could you kindly give me a sample link for the correct whitestar? I had these before, but I already stop to edit mat for over 2 years, a lot of marks collected before are lost

Sorry, but the only correct version I know is in the MAT Manager. Cry

I don't want to seem unpolite, but I use Mat Manager with planeshine mod and all is awesome. Really I don't understand why don't you test that piece of cake. The result with or without planeshine mod was incredible.

I have seen the pics from McWolf, and I must say that I get very much better results with Mat Manager. I could upload several screenshots to show it to all of you.

Thanks to McWolf and whoever other modder trying to improve our games. This is only my opinion. Don't get angry, pls.

Regards.

Hi Wilhelm Heidkamp
Thanks for your reply. I know Leigh's setting, it's made by me before, I also mentioned some reasons before why I don't use it now, so wish you understand why I still keep the lite version for my personal use and wish to share with others.

I would like to show you some interesting work now, semi-transparency TGA file with Alpha layer 20% ,40% and 70%, the marks will show the aircraft body structure shown by skin texture.

Faucon

It is normal, numbers are generated by the game, and we don’t know what to do with them yet.

McWolf

How you set different opacity with tgas? I have tried but its all transparent or all opaque

Hi Faucon,
Sorry it's my fault, I didn't include these Japanese aircraft numbers into package, but will update in the following version. 8) By the way, I only edit 1-4 group, 16 aircrafts number per group, otherwise, there are too many mat files for me, LOL.

Hi Avala,
It's not default mark, I make it with Alpha layer. Now I wish you could help me on which 3DO file include those default textures of all marks. I checked but can't find it with that extract tool. As you see below, I can just add an Alpha layer, brush some parts with different transparent percentage, it will make the mark have scratched effect. so if I can find the default one, it will save me lot of time. thanks

Well, that’s not really a team work, just sharing some ideas and knowledge picked up on the way. If I know something why shouldn’t I say that to anyone who is interested to know, and thus improving the game that I also love to play
