Duffy's where you get that image? My islands are properly displayed, maybe is my config? I'm flying over the north part of the map and no errors so far
Skunk, tried your suggestion, renamed, "ed_m02.tga" and renamed the other. Helps a lot. However still have color bluring on the horizon. Thanks for your help.

RD: duffy is flying in excellent mode, and what he is seeing in the distance is the work of map_f.tga, which controls what you see beyond the normal view distance. Basically its something that I have to work on to get right, and all I'm offering right now are stop gap solutions to this problem.
I will have to work in excellent mode myself after most of this testing is done in order to be able to offer this map to those who cant play in perfect settings.
So far most of the bugs reported have been worked on, and I appreciate all your comments.
Avala: Thanks for experimenting with that. The ed_m0x.tga's only control what you see in 2D in the mission builder. So if they can be reduced in size and it helps to load the map, well I'll reduce them here too. Do you lose any image quality when the game resizes it to screen size?
Also these maps are hand drawn, they contain no other data than the pixels you see. I'll experiment with them to see if I cant bring them from 24bit colour to 256 indexed and see if the game still loads.
oh and...7 minutes?!? Holy cow! It loads in 30 seconds on my machine. 8)

Yes it affects quality, but not so much, smallest islands are blurred, maybe to resize it and sacrifice smallest islands? I know that it is important to see all of them, but with reducing size handling in fmb and loading in mission are much more comfortable. (After all that map loads before every mission).
I don’t know how that was solved in real life and maps but I believe that you can see those smallest island only on some smallest scale topographic maps.
I think that the optimal would be something about monitor screen resolution.

Avala, I just tried something with ed_m02...I reduced it from 24 bit to 8 bit and it reduces file size to 11.8mb instead of 35.5mb.
I'll check if it loads ok in the game a little later.

I just love your screens FSM...just awesome. I think I'll use some of these in the presentation screen that will go with the download. If you dont mind of course.

Yeah, course you can. Thanks. I think taking screenshots and getting just the right angle is one of my favourite parts of making campaigns - I have dozens for each one. if you want anything in particular just say.
This is looking really good. It will be a real asset to the game.
Hey guys, appreciate your indulgence and all your help. This map is gonna be a classic.

I thought Kahili to be a very high . mountainous peice of terrain?
Oops missed this.
That screen was taken before I reworked the elevation files. This is what it looks like from Buin now:
Kahili itself is on the southeast shore of Bougainville, with mountainous areas to the north east. Further Northwest you have Kara(Buin), where the above shot was taken.
