I thought about bumping this to the top, but then thought I'd let the map makers work in peace and quiet. Smile

correct. it's taken me 18 hours to do the Piva airfield runway layouts and taxi system.

it looks very close to this

yes...it takes a long time making the taxi/parking....yesterday i was working on the pacific Islands map...trying to get the dual runway to work

is there something which prevents these things working properly??...tyhere are many dual runways in the game...but hardly any seem to allow a/c to take-off in the same direction....even if you remove the runaway icon from one end of the strip to try and force it to use the other end :x

it cannot be the fact that it doesn't like the icons to be close together.......on my Hawaii map...i have two right alongside each other to allow spawning away from the strip

Those seem really flakey. Sometimes I have to drag the plan icon way far away, letting it "snap" doesn't always work.

Obligatory screenshot of nothing in particular:

I dont think I've ever drooled over a map before... let alone any other inanimate object.

Yeah,

This map is really awesome. Can't wait to get my primary PC back from the shop, so that I can finish the Tulagi area, and then start fine-tuning all the villages, missions, and plantations.

I think you will all be pleased by the appearance of the terrain, depth of research, historical accuracy, and attention to detail, that this map brings to the table.

With all the new flyables, I feel confident that this map is going to breath a lot of new life into the PTO.

I agree. What a pity Oleg missed the boat. Apparently he just never undestood. Nice to have some PTO lovers working on this.

Firstly, I have a question... (Sorry if this has been covered, the topic is rather large), What time period is this map set for? I know "Fighter One" wasen't around Henderson until about Sept. 1942.

I just realized that Phil K was the man responsable for Hell in the Pacific *Bows Down* That's my favorite Campaign Ever! I actually bundled them all together to play as a Grand Campaign, its been awesome.

Seeing as Mission Builders like Phil have shown interest on making a Solomons Campaign on this map I've done some thinking, and reading and come up with an interesting little Idea for a smaller, and original campaign Idea. (No sense in us all making the same battle, especially when you have some very talented folks on it!)

(hope its ok to post this here) Some of you might have seen screen shots of the OSS - ACG Campaign I'm about done with ( http://allaircraftsimulations.com/forum/...php?t=2385 ). In the spirit of this OSS Kick I've been on... I've been doing alot of reading about the Royal Australian Navy's Coastwatcher Program, and the Allied Intellegence bureau. The Coastwatchers played a large roll in the Solomons, and it would be neat to play a OSS Agent, and or RAN pilot attached to the AIB, with the tasks of aiding, supporting, and keeping up with the Coastwatchers in the Solomons.

The map will contain all the airfields, so it's effectively a "late" Solomons campaign map. (though I'm not sure about all the Guadalcanal fields like Carney, Koli, etc, at this point).

That said, making an earlier version will be trivial, so we can have an Early Slot and a late Slot, no problem. Just delete the later built airfields and chuck jungle over the top of them. Making such an alternate map will literally take less than an hour, and that's assuming a leisurely work pace.

That would be great. Consider what we have now for New Guinea... The map itself shows the American made airfields near Buna... and that left us with no area for proper Japanesse standing. And they also left out the kokoda Airfield.... Great idea to have an Early and Late maps. Big Grin . Awesome work so far!.

Man this is a dream come true. Us Pacific Flyers will drool over this. Thanks all. SOW can take its time.

So Spud, if I read you correctly, all that has to be done to neuter an airbase is to remove it
