Smaller Speedbar increments (Replaced 5/15/08 by HUDConfig)

ok guys, remember as mentioned above, this does not work with Jolly's MPH_AND_FEET_HUD mod, so to uninstall that just remove it from your MODS folder.

Doh! Totally missed that, I do have Jolly's MPH fist mod so I will remove it since I can easily go back and forth. Let me give it another try. Thanks a lot for clearing that up for me.

Excellent job. Now for your next trick... even smaller increments..singles. Confusedhock:

Love the mod. Is it possible to do the same for speed?

Well, from a programming standpoint it's just as easy to make the speedbar do increments of 1 as it is to do 5 or 10 or whatever, but I'm not sure you'd like it when you tried to use it. When I was working on this I tried increments of 1 just to see what it looked like, and I didn't like it. The numbers were constantly whirring one way or the other, always changing, even in "level" flight. Maybe other people can keep their aircraft steadier than I can. Smile

But...that's why the mod is here in the Beta section, to get feedback and suggestions.

The mod does change the speed increments from 10 to 5. (If I understand your question correctly.)

Is there a possibility that you could co-ordinate with MrJolly so that this would be incorporated into his HUD mod? I notice that both mods work with the 0A535B74072406CC file. Would if be possible with MrJolly's permission to modify his 0A535B74072406CC to give the 5 MPH increments?

I've managed to combine a couple of mods so that I have MrJollys MPH, Wingflyers HUD, and Stigger's guages in wingflyers hud.

Now if I could get 5 MPH in this 'frankenmod' life would be very good Big Grin

Cool, if it isn't too much trouble...might I suggest/request a second version/option of this mod where every single Mile/Knt/mtr/ft is diplayed....ever-change-ing-ly... Just curious if I would love it or hate it.

PS: I wouldn't call this a Beta anymore... I think others would agree you hit the nail on the head with the first swing. 8)

OK, here's a test version of a modded mod for the curious. This one has ALL the speed/altitude readouts in increments of 1.

http://webpages.uah.edu/~pacificfighter ... sTest1.rar

I tested this out again last night, and it actually wasn't as bad as I thought it was the first time I tried several days ago.

The single digit airspeed increments weren't hard to read and were quite helpful on landings, particularly carrier landings.

The altitude readout wasn't bad when set to meters. The only one I really don't like is the altitude in feet. Since a foot is only 1/3 the size of a meter, the numbers are spinning about 3 times as fast as they do when set to meters. It's hard to read, and I don't think it really gives you any more useful information.

So I could see the usefulness of a version of this mod that had all speed/altitude readouts in increments of 1, except for altitude in feet, which I'd suggest 5 ft increments (which is only a little bigger than one meter).

But anyway for now you asked to see one with EVERYTHING in increments of 1, so that's what this TEST mod does.

Install this one the same way you installed the SmallerSpeedbarIncrements mod. You can leave the SmallerSpeedbarIncrements folder in your MODS folder, but since it comes first alphabetically, it will take precedence over this mod. So to try out this new mod, you can temporarily rename the original "SmallerSpeedbarIncrements" folder to something like "zzzSmallerSpeedbarIncrements".

Give it a try and let me know what you think.

Right stuff! I have to say this mode is really useful. Actually the numbers are not whirring as you said before and I can clearly read both the speed and alt, even when flying a fighter. So I'll stay with this version Big Grin

BTW, QTim suggested to put a dash before the mod's name in order to disable it. So I still keep your previous (5m increments) mod 'dashed'...

MrJolly is more than welcome to include the Speedbar mod in any of his mods. I just PMed him so we can figure out the best way to make it happen.
