slight swerve off subject technically-

while waiting for this map I've been working on my F4U-1 skins, becasue I want some USMC Corsairs to tool around in while I fly the map

I think this Fantastic work that the Pacific team is doing is going to bring out alot of great talent of the skinners and mission builders that's probably been dormant for quite some time.

This work is HUGE!!!!! in more than it's size.

A couple of suggestions. Make your fuel tank filler caps insignia red and you also need to put them on the wings as the F4U-1 and -1A had tanks in the wings. Make those formation lights on the wings a dark blue color. Also, it could use a bit of weathering, radial engines leak oil and exhaust manifolds also develop leaks, plus there is dust and mud when operating from those island strips.

Yeah, I know, the F4U-1 did not have the capability to carry a drop tank, but when the squadron CO says everybody load a drop tank, you do as told.

If you look closely at the .bmp, I did make the filler cap red...Bright robbed me of the colors. Also some of my dirt and weathering

Hello all,
Sorry I haven't posted in awhile, but I have had my head in the Map Editor version of the FMB for about two weeks now.

Here is some feedback for the map makers out there:

During the building phase you need to keep the actors static below 255kb, to the maximum extent possible, or saving/memory crashes become major issues. In order to keep it manageable during the building phase we had to tackle the higher density versions of the map using two separate actors.static files - one for airfields and airdrome points, and one for everything else. When merged for release, final versions of the actors will be about 350kb, or more, for 43L and 44. Good news is we may be able to include all airfields, including fields at Russell Is., and Guadalcanal on the 44 version of the map (original plan was to delete all objects west of Santa Isabel). This should still keep us well below some of the beefier default maps.

Will provide updated status on Saturday.
