Yeah, there is, the planes have a lower top speed now, due to the increased drag of the non-polished markings.

Cool, thanks. I was wondering because people have told me MAT manager sucks up some resources. I was wondering if that was because it needs to be run in the background, or if the mats etc were higher res.

But.. I installed this, and no fps at all, and it is AWESOME. Two thumbs up mate. I really didn't want to mess w/ MAT manager, and now I don't have to!

Just rename it and open it. The .7z files can be opened with 7zip.

About the clearcache=0 thing, there's no need. Just paste the 'cache' folder in a ...\files\paintschemes directory in stead, and no one can erase it but you.
I've been looking into how the game sticks the decals onto the planes. I found sets of overlay .mats in each ...\3Do\planes folder that specify the kind of decal, but if you change the alpha settings there, nothing happens in game, and changing the referenced .tga changes nothing either. I don't get it, and I don't know java to save my life, or to find out.

I have a problem....I just installed this mod, and when I tried it, I saw that some Luftwaffe planes lost these arrow-things marking the Squadron Leader....but only some....could any1 help me? If needed I'll take my time to list all those planes missing markings :?
Other than that, this mod is cool 8)

EDIT:Okey, ignore that bug....I reinstalled and everything's alright now...but is there a version somewhere with markings that are not that much transparent? I don't like that effect so much...but if not, I'll live with it, still looks better than original

I've installed the mod as instructed in the read me and even added the text to the config.ini file and now all my profiles and careers have gone!
I get a name in Russian in the pilot list and have to start all my careers over again.
I have deleted the cache and emblems folders from the paintschemes folder and deleted the line in the .ini file but to no avail.
Any ideas? Sad

Disregard the above, it's fixed itself!
It may of sorted itself out after a system restart.

This is a great mod that really improves something I have loathed about IL2 from day 1, the kludgy emblems. One thing I do notice is that the standard German cross, Backen2.tga, texture seems to not have been given the transparency treatment, whereas other German emblems like the arrows and such have. Was this merely overlooked or still left to be done? I also noted that there were mat files included in the mod that reference tga files that do not seem to exist in the standard IL2 or AAA mod install, such as mat file balken0.mat referencing ../decals/German/balken0.tga. Are these left over from other mat managers that you may be using or am I missing something that I should have from another mod?

Thanks for your great work.

Thanks for your work McWolf!

I ALWAYS HATED the pasted-on look of the letters and numbers.

A small sample

Dead squad leader taking his squad into oblivion westward from Corsica :?
(was testing the Ai MOD Wink then )

Love how the numbers fade into the b/g a bit like they should Smile

Your fix is much appreciated 8)

Cheers
