If you're after realism, why not just do it like the US Navy does it?? They call it FCLP, for Field Carrier Landing Practice, and they just have their people make carrier like approaches to a section of a runway (sometimes actually painted to resemble a carrier deck) and grade their touchdowns. Then they got out to the carrier and do it for real :wink:

Already marked that way... the thing is I would also like it to be able to teach the new guys the trick to cable snatching

The base is designed for training, and this would be a perfect addon for it...

As we can see, it was a real thing just before WW2 in countries which had no carriers for training
