Announcing 'Die Alpen'

Thank you again, all problems solved.

Now with a few days delay i've tested Autopop. Not easy to handle in the beginning. Very easy if you know it to use. And it works great! Yesterday i populated about 3500 (very) small villages within seconds ;-) Many thanks to the author! Only disadvantage is, that it doesn't hold the period of the textures, but i think that is impossible. I couldn't do that neither free-hand. Next map will be about 10*10 km ;-)

What do you mean exactly? Have you a screen? It _should_ keep the period of textures (i.e. the spatial rate)

You have to use the correct texture template (800 or 1600 m) though

Well, i place the buildings along the streets

but they appear scattered over the ground

There's something wrong with the links, don't know what ....

Did you use the empty9a map (provided with the tool) to build your city template?
Did you check the size (period) of your city texture (it should be either 800 or 1600m to be supported by the Autopop tool)?

Actually Autopop should be able give you perfectly aligned buildings throughout the whole map

Yes.

AutoPop works ok -- see examples on Northeast France thread.
No "slippage" of objects.

You must be doing something wrong. Have you got MapSize.txt set up correctly for create.bat?
Is autopop.ini set up with the correct repeat value for the texture chosen. 800 or 1600.

Only post generation work to be done is to omit buildings on roads, railways and water and possibly on junction of template types, depending on how well you have set up your master templates.

Testing took an another evenig, but i think, i've got it now. I noticed after a while that the buildings where only placed right where the pattern of the inner 4*4 fields at the autopop_map.t (smaller square) is repeated. But there are also other patterns in the city0-textures of my map. So the period of city0 pp. is not 800 as stated but 1600 (or correctly 3200, i think?). I tested that with the bigger square. Perfectly orientated buildings now. So i have to change my archetype cities from 4*4 to 8*8, that' for times bigger. grmpf;-(

The period can be 800 or 1600 depending on the texture. It was stated before, just needs to read more carefully what others post hehe.

Allright, but the delivered autopop.ini says: 'City0 template_city0_800.txt 800'. And i have blind faith in you computer-wizards around here ;-). Should be changed, i think (The ini. Not the faith, i hope). Matty just misses the upper 478 m on the map but feels still allright.

Airport at 1250m. Better turn right after take off. Not easy to land here. Jets dont start for some reason.

There was a similar problem with"Italy Online" at the northern airbase with the I16 and I153.

If theres no"self starter" modeled on the AC perhaps it's related.

The jets are starting now even in the hight, don't know what solved the problem.

Current status:

Airports: Done. Not absolutly historically but picturesquely.
Very small & small villages: About 4500 done, saturday morning i will add some more.
Rail & roads: Rails 14.000 Km done, roads only 6000, i will add some saturday at noon:-)

The fine weather is very hindering. A place in the Bering Sea might be a much better place for mapmaking.
