The Slot map_h is 4128 x 3008 pixels; at 200 metres per pixel this translates to 825.6 x 601.6 km. Now place a rectangle of such dimensions over Europe and look at the area it covers. The BoB map by 352nd team can easily be swallowed by the area of the Slot map. As the crow flies, 845 km will take you from Land's End to almost the Belgian-German border. And the 601.6 km can cover the ground between Paris and Hull. So 1:1 scale is no problem for the BoB map.

A while back I put together some basic map files for the whole of Burma.
Included China and extended west to Calcutta, the limit of Japanese air attacks.

I think it ended up at 1:2 to get it to load.

MWmap_c was 12416 x 14400 pixels. Once disected map_c was 8.9MB but it would have got much bigger with all the river detail added.

---- but the problem with Northern Europe is not so much the map size but the number of objects required to make reasonably realistic scenery. Too many urban areas.
