[WIP] Projekt "WÜRGER": Focke Wulf FW-190A-3
#16

I/JG27_Waggel Wrote:A squad mate of mine talked with an FW-190 veteran some time time ago. He flew several varaints of the FW-190. There are points where the performance of the 190 was cut in IL2. But if you want to make the 190 completly historical full realistic, you will not find any allied pilot who wants to fly against you.

For example the Focke Wulf had better turn by performance at low speed against a Mustang. The mustang also had a disatvantage caused by electrical rudder controls. With a FW-190 you could move the Stick "VOLLE KANNE" (very hard) with both hands. You could feel it, when the stick began to shake and to vibrate. A lot of mustang pilots thaught, they can outturn a FW190 and lost their life because the mustang went into a stall and crashed on the ground.

Today the man is over 80 years old and still has his fun with flying in gliders. mental he makes a very good impression (like a young man). He also was very interested to test IL2 sturmovik especially the 190. My squad mate hopes to see him again. Talking about old warbirds and make a test ride with IL2.

Now you could speak to a Mustang veteran (or read books, there are many easy to find for the US side), and he'll tell you the exact contrary. The P51 is usually superior to the serieA FW, and it's no surprise (just have a look at the aircraft shapes for sake !), and slightly inferior to the D series (again no surprise). All this is seen in game too.

If you want western front more realistic FWs, just give access to full power to the Kommandogerat, that's all !

And can you supply us with a quote from that book?
I'm very interested to see her name, because i know an international avionic bookstore near by my house with all the info that i need on any type of a/c WW1,WW2,Cold war era and Modern aerial warfare.

Mustang was heavier and the laminar flow wings gave it good performance in climb, but not in turn!
The D series are heavier, because they carried 2x additional .50's.Calculate yourself the weight of the additional machine guns and the ammonitions for them. Also there were some other changes that i currently can't say,but i'll check if needed.

Also it should be available to out-turn any Mustang/P-51.
It all depends on pilot fatigue, skills and plane weight;arming and health.

"The mustang also had a disatvantage caused by electrical rudder controls." :?: :?: :?:

Nothing electrical in rudder controls.

Johnnie Johnson wrote about being out turned by FW in his Spit, at low level, during the Dieppe raid.

@ rollnloop:

The 190 was a natural airplane .... a cadillac in comparison to a 109. Nice cockpit, all instruments where right where they should be, bubble canopy. Probably the plane of the war until the P51 Mustang came along. A P51 problem was the 85 gallons fuselage tank behind the cockpit. If this tank was completly full, the P51 was very unstable. You had to suck this tank down to round about 40 gallons before you could go into a dogfight and it still was very hard to stay behind a 190 at low speed.

You're welcome "Waggel".
And remember that Fw190A3 tested hadn't a not perfect engine. It was reported some malfunction in Kommandogerat system and also Bosh injection. If were perfect it could be better.

Better than a book, go there:

read this one for a start

near the end of report the FW190 is caught in a turn

The only thing i can agree in what you wrote, but I fully agree on it

Quote:In IL2 the Spit IX versions (LF and HF) are really climb monsters. Eric Brown wrote that up to 7000 meters the Spit IX and the 190 had nearly the same climb rate. There only where very little differences in some regions. Over 7000 meters the spit IX could climb more and more away.

At what speeds ?

In IL2 slower than 450kph the Spitfire climbs better, at 450kph and faster it's equal or best for FW190A5.

The FW190A is really the "king of the hill" in IL2 (it's my favorite aircraft to play, i think in 7 years of IL2 i have 60 to 70% of my online time flying the butcher bird), but it still cannot be the best in all aspects all the time !

Still, i'd be happy to have a FW190 KG that uses all the power of the engine. Josse is working on this, so hopefully soon...

I hope someone will create FW 190 A1/2/3 flyable aircrafts for AAA, which causes no problems with their mod policy

If somebody has tried to fly A3/A3 version created by josse ?
If so, describe your impressions.

Dont ask for that !!!

Here whats RAF_Magpie said about it a few post earlier

IT IS NOT ALLOWED HERE!!! ANY LINKS WILL RESULT IN ACCOUNT SUSPENSION/BANNING that includes PMs!!!

It is not up for debate! This mod contains files that conflict with AAA policy

Thank you Carnage. That includes discussion of that mod.

You know that I dont support all of your mod policy, but I dont want that thread to be closed !
I really hope that some of your modders take hand on the early FW 190s as new stock planes without changing the weapons.
