Increasing Flight Sizes

To be honest, it looked the business, and since I was in the third B17 of the 2nd flight, I had a grandstand view of the formation. Perhaps it was spread a little wide historically speaking, but even then, turning home after the bomb run I saw one air to air collision. Seven out of sixteen planes made it home, two downed by enemy Fw190's before the escorts drove them off, the others by AA fire at three seperate locations. Believe me, if you don't get carried away with scale, the current situation is adequate for most purposes. Don't forget, in total you can have up to 128 aircraft on screen and thats not bad for a computer game.

I'm interested in this. How long did it take you to set this up?

Of course, you can do it this way, but it takes half a day to set it up... It would be better to have this option in QMB.

To set it up as a mission able to run it took less than fifteen minutes. To fine tune it for my desired end-result took two days, but larger flight sizes wouldn't have made any difference to that because the bomber formation track wasn't changed, just the various flak positions, enemy flights, escort flights, and any other objects of interest like ships (just eye candy some of them).

There might be something in the class files that needs to be changed, for FMB anyway, as any FMB mod seems to only consist of the class files.

Thanks for doing all the work you are doing on this Smile

There's definitely another file that needs to be changed. Finding it will be key to solving this puzzle.....I'm also looking at the mission files once it generated to see if you can increase the number of aircraft that way. Keeping the same type planes and just increasing the count...I'll be playing around with it for a couple of days....If any other team member wants to helps give me a shout.

It is easyer to do it with some cut and paste of the .mis file.
Do a single 4 bomber group and plan it's path carefully.
Create as many groups as you want, without taking care of numbers and path.
then copy the bombers path on the .mis file to an excel screen, and generate new positions adding 150 to 250 on the x,y coordinates, and something like 100 to 200 meter differences on altitudes.

Take the results back and paste it on the .mis files on the undefined bomber groups.

If you care to work a bit more you can build your own templates for doing this on any excel alike program, and get as many formations as you wish.

The only thing that is really necesary to find where it is, is setting flying formations. you never know if they are going to fly on a 4 finger, a box or an echelon.
