System Struggles on 'Perfect'
#1

HI Guys

Back on my old computer, it had a ATI 1300/1500 card with 256MB with memory and a lowzy rate. But could run OpenGL on perfect at about 30FPS and no problem.

Now with my new system, I have a Dual core processor at 2.66Ghz, 3GB of RAM at 700Mhz and a EN8800GT 512MB memory good shader rates etc. And I get 15 FPS on Perfect, I dont quite get that. Even on my Un-modded Il-2 it struggles. and I dont know why. Ive tried the new DDL's, and they dont do any thing. And my Nvidia card is Up to date Got any ideas?

open your task manager, go into processes tab, then right click on the game exe name, set affinity to one of the cores

i have read this article, it helped me a lot, maybe it will hep you http://il2.netteq.com/guides/multicore/ ... html#Step1

Do the Prioraff thing

Try the 177.92 drivers

Set Anti-aliasing to Multisampling 8X

Set Anisotropic to 8X

LOD to "Clamp"

Use Hi Quality Textures

VSYNC On

Force OpenGL Triple Buffering

Should be Good-to-Go

Try with Vsync on BUT Triple Buffering disabled.

Check it.

I run my 8800GT with vsync on and triple buffering off, it seems to help. Also try different game dll's. I think there is a pack of something like 5 versions on this site. I know I tried two or three before I got a good image and minimal stuttering. I don't think complete elimination of the stuttering is possible, it's been there for several years now and may be a problem with Nvidia's drivers as some drivers seem worse than others.

Ill have to take your point on that one. Il-2 is quite an old game. And its not really designed to take the new cards and chip sets. Possibly when ever the new patch comes out, If ever, It may have a fix in it I hope, Because alot of people have this trouble.

Thanks for the help guys. Ill keep fiddling and see where it goes.

Your settings gave me over 100FPS normally, but 19FPS on Perfect. So weird... Sad

Make sure "Extension limit" is turned off in the video card profile for Il2.

I average 58fps in the Black Death track, my monitor has a 60 Hz refresh rate (LCD).
