Trooper117 Wrote:Historical correctness of course...
Fantasy crap and porn is not needed, and I don't include historical nude nose art, that's not porn, it's what the crews painted on their aircraft.
As to swastika's etc on German aircraft, well, I'm no Nazi sympathiser, but I'd expect to see them on a historical skin.. If we let these political correct prats rule our lives, then it'll be films and books next that'll get it... They make me sick!
Agree 100% mate.
What about the new dambuster film by Peter Jackson (still in development BTW). I know someone who's working on the film, and he informed me that they won't call Gibson's dog
Nigger as it may offend. The name of Wing Commander Guy Gibson's pet labrador, Nigger, has been branded as "unacceptable" by Hollywood's money men.
Instead, the filmmakers are being forced to stray from historical accuracy and settle for the more politically correct Nidge.
Sir David Frost, who owns the rights to the film, said it will cause a huge problem.
He said: "We've been told that the word is simply unacceptable in America nowadays. This causes a huge problem because we want the film to be as historically correct as possible."
It was suggested that scriptwriters name the dog Digger, but Sir David said that wouldn't happen.
"I think we have reached a compromise in which we'll call him Nidge.
"Gibson did sometimes call his dog this, so there would be a historical precedent."
I know that this is perhaps more acceptable, but I can't understand why a dog's name should offend-given that the events are true and happened over 60 years ago. If it was a modern made fantasy film, then yes-I would be offended, but some people just go out to spoil things for the rest of us.
Not being offensive, but did anyone hear about a group of strict Muslim's who are trying to stop the red arrows for the 2012 Olympics as they say they are too British? Why, it sickens me.
