[Mod] Zip_Alpen V.1.2 - Final version + smaller actors patch
#91

OK, here is what I found out today after extensive testing with this map. I have several different mods from this site installed in my game. I decided to start fresh and install just the maps to see if it would work. The map would then load in my FMB although I still got crash after playing the mission in FMB, also the full map runs very good again. I then started re-installing some of the mods from this site, periodically firing up FMB and checking that alpine would still load. What I have determined is it is one of the PLANE mods that I had installed that was messing with alpine in my FMB. I am not sure which one as of yet but when I find out for sure I will post it here. Thx again for the map!

That's realy interesting and strange. If the map didn't load even with an empty actors.static, the only reason could be the quite big tga files. Did the slot map load? May be also the graphical memory of the game is limited, i hope not that there will be an other still unknown limit. But i never heard of such a behavior before, so it might be related to your rig or some special misinstallation. But i am happy to hear that it works now.

Hello Zip,

I have an issue with the west map. I havent tried any other version. Made a coop, inside FMB it acted normally, loaded fine no issues at all. Everyone launched fine, bout 15 secs after start, I dropped out. Basically, the game stopped responding. Everyone else in game ran the whole map just fine. Infact, they teased me while they were enjoying the great work and the beauty of it. Made me green tbh, lol.

My system is a quad core Q9300 with 4 gigs of RAM (Identical) on vista 32. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Ben- sorry to hear you are having trouble there. I looked at the first post where the download was and it says "This map is for 4.09b1m only. " If there is any way you go to 4.09 I'm sure it will be worth it for you 8)

Good luck

I would recommend you to patch it up to V4.09B1M through this site and then download Zipzapp's Alpenmap. In my opinion it is one of the nicest maps there is.

And below two screenies of your hometown M

could you add the railroad trough the Brenner Pass... pleasssss Tongue

I am looking at the actual historic happenings on your map, an it seems vital to the strategic side of history...

To add a railway to the brenner is hardley possible. It's very difficult to lay roads and rails in the mountains (that is the reason why there a only a few), a road allone needs a quite flat area of about 600 meter width in a deep valley. There is a road, i think, to add a railway it would be necessary to blast away billions tons of soil and rocks.

zipzapp, thanks for replying

so the lack of a railway trough the Brenner pass is due to game technical limitations... OK

Idea ...but then, is it posible to plot a second road then, and give it the texture like a railway.... :?:

....and then, when making a mission with a train going trough the pass, you just plot in a viecle on the "rail-road" and fix it in a text-editor afterwards.... :!: :?: :?:

The way I have it by now - it looks a bit odd - trains running up the wally road - messing up the trafic

Pleas - for x-mas Tongue

Any how... thanks for a grate map Big Grin

....we mission-makers are fare behind... :? ( ....and still asking for more.... )

I don't understand what you are meaning with to plot a second road (or rail). You can create a road or rail only by setting a pixel in the map_t. One pixel is 200 meter wide in the map. The only other possibility to lay rails is to use a rail from the rail objects in the fmb. You can build a railway where you want with that, but that would be a dummy railway.

It's also not possible simply to change the road texture to a rail texture in map_t. It's no problem to write a program for this and a

Hi guys !!!

I had a problem with my computer and had to buy a new one, much better (4 Go RAM, nVidia 8800GT with 512 Mb, DualCore, etc...).

What a change !!! now, loading times are reasonable, and the game goes smoothly when flying this beautiful map !!!

But I still have problems when using the FMB (I do not have FMB+)... after a moment, I have an error "can't read memory...etc...", I click OK and back to desktop... I really do not know what to do, because I really would like to make missions for Swiss pilots... any idea ???

Avoir la foi, c'est être plus sûr d'une chose que la raison ne le permet.

I just finished a campaign on this map (should soon be up on M4T)

i did like this:
build the mision, but test it not from FMB but exit it and testfly it from single missions.
But as soon as you reenter FMB to make changes you will encounter a memory error at the end (very often). so only one mission at a time, then end and restart the game.

it is pain in the ass but it is a limitation of the game engine as it seems, nothing wrong with your rig here.
just get over it and do restarts of the game each time you twist a mission.
I had to do it for 14 Missions but i liked to play them afterwards. when you play them, you are much safer from memory errors, not completely safe but it is better than in FMB.
