Thailand campaign.

Craken you can get it from Fabianfreds site the link is near the top of this thread. For some strange reason M4T won't recognise my log in so Fred allowed me to post it on his site, it is in the New Thai map folder and is titled Indochina campaign.

Just downloaded your campaign from M4T will be loading it up later.

Wishing you the very best, Pete. Big Grin

Ah, I have already searched fabianfred's files, but wasn't able to find it. [I was looking for "Thailand campaign"] Thanks for clarifying Big Grin I have been lookind forward such a campaign for months, I really adore "exotic conflicts" in Sturmovik. Big Grin

I have downloaded the campaign and try to use it, but for some reason my machine don't recognise the Thai regiments (I have installed the morenations mod). I tried different install for the mod but nothing works the only regiment that show up are the 72 and 41 but they are considered as RAF regiments. Naturally I can change regiment names and play it as GB but there is less fun, Do you have any suggestion?

Hello fdelre, sorry you're having problems. I am not sure why you are having this problem, but follow the steps outlined below and your problem may be overcome.

The morenations mod folder has a number of folders in it that need to be placed in your il-2 root directory.

This is what will be in the folder after you have un-zipped it.

The three folders you see, Files, i18n and PaintSchemes need to be cut and pasted into your il-2 directory.

This is the directory .

As you will see there are already these folders there, you merely have to cut and paste the ones in the morenations mod here. You should be left with three files in the morenations mod, ORIGcountry, ORIGcountry-ru and ORIGcountry-fr, there is also a text document, Alternate names. Leave these in the morenations folder and copy and paste the morenations folder into your mods folder, hopefully things should work then. I usually turn my PC off after doing anything like this and do a cold boot to start it up before loading up il-2, as you would when adding a new campaign.

What you see in my Indochina conflict folder once you have un-zipped it will also need to be copied and pasted into the root directory, again if you look at the above illustration you will again see these folders are already there, Missions, PaintSchemes, samples and Mods.

If you follow the above and turn off your PC and re-boot, when you load il-2 you should see Thailand featured in the pilot career screen and you should be good to go

Wishing you the very best, Pete.

Did you download more nations from fabianfred's site? For me, it works well. But still, I couldn't try it, because of too much work. I am really looking forward a "Thai weekend".

Hi Peter, I love it, but I am having trouble - the campaign won't save! I played some 5 missions, than I left it and when I returned to my horror I noticed that I am in the 1st mission again!

Nice to know you're enjoying this campaign Kirby. I've played it through myself now and have made a few adjustments. Made some changes to mission four, I had set aircraft speed incorrectly so wasn't sure if you would meet the Moranes if you were flying on auto, have also moved the flight paths so you shouldn't miss them now anyway. I also had a few issues with aircraft colliding on the ground and in some instances with hills so have put these right. In version two it should also be possible to play at any rank, the only Thai aircraft assigned a squadron is the Hawk so you shouldn't end up in another aircraft! I need to ask Fabianfred if I can upload this updated version to his site, I can then consider the Thai version of the campaign finished and move on to the Vichy French one.

Craken, the problem you are having is usually associated with not having all the objects used in both the Thai and Channel maps, or if you have them not having added the text to the static.ini file in the STD folder which allows them to be seen. All I can suggest is you look through the forum posts for both these maps to see if there is something you have missed, or I could Email you my static.ini to see if that sorts out your problem. EmailTongueSha10163@aol.com (The P and S need to be uppercase)
By the way I have your campaign running, finished mission 2, downed a PZL. No problems so far, great to actually have a campaign to play on that lovely Slovak map.

fdelre, good to know you have managed to get things working finally. I removed the morenations files from one of my versions of il-2 to try and recreate the problem you were having and also put my campaign into the NN folder to see if it could be played from there, unfortunately it couldn't because obviously the aircraft were assigned to Thai and Vichy French sides so without the morenations mod no play.

Here is a shot of it in the NN (none folder), is this what you were seeing when you loaded up?

I think the reason for the Russian text is because the modded version of il-2 comes from a Russian version of the sim, if that was what you were seeing then it is almost certain you had not got all the files from the morenations mod in the correct places.

I went through a re-install of the morenations files after this shot was taken just to make sure I had given you the proper instructions, my version is now back to normal so I don't think I missed anything in that post.

I have tried to keep detail in the campaign to a minimum because of the loading and playability issues associated with different machines so I haven't added detail to the towns and Cities but felt for immersion reasons it was necessary to put some detail in the airfields. Also because I was trying to replicate certain events whether they affected your mission or not I had to have other aircraft flying in the mission both for historical accuracy and for something to watch on long missions.

Anyhow you are up and running now so enjoy. Big Grin

Wishing you all the very best, Pete.

Hi Peter, thanks for help, friend! I donloaded fabianfred's static.ini, that was it!! I already have Hanger MOD and Canon Bob (but it won't some reason does not appear in the FMB...) - re-installing did not help at all... It is solved now, thank you. BTW - there are some skins of Vichy Potez 25s [U2vs] on M4T and Flying legends, it would be great to have them in vichy colonial campaign. I have been thinking of making Vichy campaign too, because it could be a very extensive campaign against various enemies (e.g. Thais, Japanese, or even Chinese and AVG/US). Big Grin Maybe I will make it after some time, now I am busy gathering information for my future fictional Abyssinian Airforce campaign. Another interesting piece of world that has not been yet covered in Il-2.

Cheers.

Good to know you've sorted out the problem cracken, the last major hurdle with having the Thai map work were three buildings that had lay dorment in the Static.ini until someone found them. Fabianfred used these objects, a colonial house for want of a better discription, and two village huts or farm buildings, he did start a thread showing how to activate them and I thought even if you had all the other things working you may have overlooked these objects. While I'm here a word on the background.tga Thai Fighter that goes with my campaign. If you play the first mission but don't apply for the second it will not show later, another peculiarity of this wonderfull sim we all love, you will need to delete your current progress, select another nation, and then re-select Thailand for it to appear again. My forthcoming Vichy campaign will use this campaign but will fly from the French side, a few changes may be needed but essentially it will be the same. The original intention was to build the campaign taking in the whole war period flying for Thailand, but once I transfered the campaign out of the NN folder and into the morenations mod folder it became a little more difficult because Thailand in effect became a Blue force. Good luck with the Abyssinia campaign and if you get there the Indochina one, I look forward to both. I have seen the Potez skins but thought they looked a little too bright so didn't use them, they are nicely done though, not sure whether I will use them in the Vichy campagn or not. I might make my own seeing as I already have my own template, I thought of doing so for this campaign but I started it around August, so really didn't want to drag it out any longer!

Regards, Pete. Big Grin
