[MOD] AI Mod V.17 *UPDATE*

Thank you! It's a great MOD!
I'm an offline player, so with this MOD the battles are much more enjoyable for me. 8)

LA-5FN climbs way better and is a bit faster than 190-A6 up to about 3500 meters. After that it's a slight advatage to LA in climb, while FW is a bit faster .

I will test a little bit with one and the same mission. How is the ranking of the AI?
Is 0 = Rookie and 4 = Ace, or is it contrary?

Seems to me like this is an historical mod, but ill not be able to test it until March... Sad ...anyway, just have some questions.

-Is possible to make the AI to disengange from combats and not stay forever. ? (Of course if they have a chance to escape)
-In the same way, can AI be more cautious in the enganging?, like, if they are not in a favorable position, they will try to refuse the fighting.
-For the escorts, if you go near the bombers, the escorts engage, but if you turn away, they return to the bomber formation.
-AI not going into the enemy base just to be caught by AAA

Maybe some people will not like the enemy just avoiding battle, but how about having 2 settings? Like Realistic AI and Action AI Tongue. (Maybe dreaming here but that would be a nice button for the realism settings, but AAA modders seems to get all dreams in here)

Thats all for now...and from what ive read, this is a top work mod!! Keep up the good work.

I think that it's just that Oleg has not tested his maps 100% on all the landing routines and approach vectors for AI.
In Crimea or was it Kuban map there is one airfield near the coast where there's a high mountain near the airfield. If AI pilots come from the north they all crash to mountain but if they come from the south they have no problems on landing.
But if it can be corrected with this mod that would be cool.

This question came to my mind:
If your are flying the lead and you land, sometimes the wingman just stays in the air and does boom and zoom on you and sometimes he finaly crashes on you.
Even if you try to command him to "break" and to "return back to base" he's will still just stay flying around above you.
That sometimes scares the S#it out of me and my mates having a peaceful chat on the grass.

Speaking of landing patterns, can we have :

-only 1 AI per flight group asking for landing (no more staurated comms between AIs and tower)

-when your AI n

I absolutely love this mod as long as missions occur during the daytime, but at night all the light switching is about as unrealistic as one can get. Please don't take this as a lack of appreciation because it's definitely not meant to be. You're doing an incredible job with this!

I can only assume some other mod is conflicting with the file that controls the light behavior. Do you have the AI Nav lights off mod installed? If so, delete that folder in your MODS directory.

I would ask not to merge this with anything... its brilliant and the develpment path is stellar !

Get it working fine and bug free first...in the most simplistic way possible.

The carrier mod has known bugs in it currently and to merge the two is forcing people to accept problems from the outset and adds to the level of certificates complexity.

When fireball perfects the carrier mod & Certificate is really happy with this (which both almost definitely will)..then would think would be the time to consider merging stuff.

Mission - Intercept the bomber flight.
190's tasked with intercepting the bombers
109's attacking the P51's

Initial merge: The P51's moved in from the flank to attack the mixed incoming. The 190's went evasive momentarily then blew through the P51's to attack the bombers (Liberators only) from their left front. The evasion to get through the P51's moved them off the direct approach to the bombers. The wingmen seemed to just follow their leader through the bomber formation without firing.

The 109's manoeuvred to attack the P51's which turned to pursue the 190's.

The 190's turned and approached the bombers from their six and below as they had dived after the merge. They passed under the bombers to move to the front and turn to attack the bombers from head on again. As they passed under the bombers no effort was made to engage and some 190's got nailed. After a bit I did see some engagements from the rear quarter on the bombers.

The 109's went for stroll after the P51's with no apparent aggressiveness to close and engage. They maintained their pair formations in pursuit. At one time, I saw a P51 get between a wingman and his lead and sit in the gunsights of the wingman. The wingman did nothing but continued to maintain station on his lead. Then after the P51 fired on the lead and Split S away, the wingman rolled over and pursued the P51. The lead survived.

Some of the 190's preferred to engage the P51's rather than the bombers after the initial intercept and second pass. In most cases it was a long climb back up to the formation. Then, the 190's bugged out leaving me and my wingman engaged and the 109's still taking a walkabout in big circles.

3 P51's Shot down. by AI (mostly 190's)
2 bombers shot down (by me)
2 bomber shot down by AI.
None damaged in the aftermath. (no smoke)

1 109 shot down
2 190's shot down

All settings were on Average.

AI wingmen (in .12, haven't tried .13 yet) don't seem to do much but follow the leader. I spent a good deal of time stalking a MiG pair in my 109E and finally managed a crossing deflection shot that lit the lead MiG on fire. All the while I could ignore the wingman since he did absolutely nothing aggressive ... until his leader was shot down, then he went full aggressive.

It was a bit odd having the wingman AI totally disregard my presence. Occasionally we were almost in formation together, both of us trying to get closer to the lead MiG.
