[MOD] AI Mod V.17 *UPDATE*

Does anyone have the previous versions of this mod? I think that some of the prvious versions were less buggy than 1.7. If you have them...please upload them....I will take them all. Big Grin

I'm curious.....Have you giys tried the AI from the 4.02 patch?

The only way to put it was they were stunning. Tell your wingman to cover and 90% of the time you never had to call for help he was on them. Heck I watched AI one day split up a flight of 4, and quite simply they ping ponged enemy planes like the most coordinated team on the planet. Evassive manuevers were stunning, they'd honor your position if on an enemy hanging back not shoulder shooting...They knew lead...It was quite frankly stunning to watch.

Without exageration if I could get three other people to play exactly as they did...We would be absolutly unbeatable..............AI in 4.02 was so amazing no one could tell who was AI, and who was live.....The complaints to Oleg were so numerous as live pilots were suddenly having so much trouble he switched them back. Not because they were uber-aces....They just team played well and were so unpredictable when against them.

Might be worth a look-see to see what you could gleen from the AI in that patch.

I'm sorry but I just can't believe that for a second.

Been playing IL2 from its beggining and not a single version of IL2 has made me believe that AI can substitute the online players skill and various tactics.

Certificate has brought us closer to that, much more than Oleg ever did.

From AI planes not being 100% trimed and a possiblity to sneak on AI plane close on its six to the removal or I should better say reduction of constant climbing as a defensive tactic.

Now for a change offline AI is fun to fly against.

I, like THOR, respect your opinion but do not agree with it. I have been here since Beta Testing of IL-2 Sturmovik. 4.02 may have been better than most other versions but Certificate, in my opinion, has eclipsed that many times.

It is also my personal belief that CERT_AI_Mod 16 is the better version of the MOD.

I've been flying since 1.0 when the sim came out as Forgotten Battles literally the same week it hit the shelves in March of 2003.....ALL of my time online in coops flying daily wherein I see both numerous live pilots and AI mixed constantly. 4.02 AI was detuned as quite frankly so many players complained (now not getting kills and getting shot down) that Oleg rolled it back detuning them.

Not complaints about they do this wrong or that wrong...Yet complaints about them teamplaying too well, and it impossible to detect who was AI and who was live which some online players count on.

It's great to support this mod, I'm all for improved AI.......So why not consider what was in the version that folks raved on, and gleen from it what you like?

I don't want easy to defeat AI....I want AI as unpredictable as a noobie live player....More so I want the awesome teamwork that the 4.02AI showed.

WHat we all want...........right?

I too would like to see AI do better in this sim. If you say that 4.02 had the best AI then why not try modding that? I'm game.


I have also been playing IL2 from the start, from v1.0. And I still have to see the person who can't distinguish AI plane from a human one. I guess you're that person. Kidding, sorry. Big Grin I would very much like to see AI transformed into something that should have been done ages ago.

Starting from AI gunners (un-affected by G-forces, blind to friendly bombers flying nearby, either sniper shots or super dumb, etc...), to proper bomber and all other formations - I'm so sick of echelon right.

This stuff still hasn't been fixed. Let us hope that the Certificate or someone else will find a way.


For me - IL2 would have ended on the shelf 4 years ago if I didn't discover the online comunity. I just can't stand playing offline. Until Certificate came along. Wink

Yes, some variation in formations at startup might be in order. It is always the same formation and it gets to be too predictable.

But is a flight's startup formation really a matter that has to do with the AI? Shouldn't that be something that ought to be taken care of in the FMB when setting up a scenario?

I think you can rely on plenty of help doing beta testing on the AI.

If you make a few notes for things to look for you should get good feedback.

We're all so sick of the AI in this series.

The number of postings in this thread should indicate to you there is enormous interest in your improvements to the AI.

Its personal taste of course, but 1.7 is the best effort as far as I'm concerned

Alrighty Decon, thank you and I'll give them a try and I post here which I find the betterWink Totally with you on that agracier :roll: I checked out the mission folder to see if there was an indicator of anything that might even be remotely associated to a formation setting and found squat!
