[MOD] "WIP" XP-86 Sabre v1.02 *update* need skinne

Mac-601, the maker of the model PeterD was working on wing slats, I think the airbrakes are done and working (just not in a FM so they can't be used yet) and I think he mentioned a sliding canopy so hopefully its in the works.. He's got boat loads of talent and took this from blank page to Beta in about 4 weeks.. So the bar is set high.

You're "confused"...those are .50 cal tracers from my "wingy"(F-86A), we were "double teaming"
that "Mig" (Ta-183).

Wow I just had a chance to try this bird and it's sweet! It will be even cooler with the Korea map.

Can't wait to see how this evolves 8)

Thanks

Forgive me if this question has already been asked, but will there be US default skin folder or just the multi1 in the final version? It's kind of a shame to spoil a great jet with antiquated 1942-style US markings, but I understand if it's a lot of extra work.

As Far as I know the skin that comes with the download is the default skin with the star/bar and stripe. That's post WW2.

Turn off "markings" in the settings...

This might be helpful for cockpit development.

Yes, but then a blank skin would have to be manually selected for each non-US plane. I was just looking for a faster way than having to turn the markings off and select a specific skin for each plane.

I've downloaded today this magnificent Sabre from the first page of this thread and followed the installation instructions. I didn't find the mentioned fix, but I suppose that is now no more necessary.
Unluckily it does not work for me, i.e. the Sabre does not appear in the QMB!
I've inserted the line in the air.ini file, and I wonder if another line is necessary for the plane_ru.properties file.

Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks

Just by chance, did you insert the SABRE into alphabetical order in the air.ini? I had no problem, which was a relief since I run an install that is pre-UI 1.0.

Also make sure you have only one air.ini. There may be another somehow. I've found that sometimes: I edit a file, and it's the right filename but wrong path somehow.

Hope that helps

Very important you make the Skin folder in the paintschemes main skin folder. I made that mistake on another acft and that was the problem with it not showing up. Also the air.ini file you need to update is the one located here:

C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\MODS\STD\com\maddox\il2\objects

Installation:
=============
1) Unzip the folder "XP-86 Sabre v1" inside your MODS folder.
It should look like this:

C:\Program Files\IL2 Sturmovik\MODS\XP-86 Sabre v1\3d0\...etc

2) Create a folder called SABRE in your PaintSchemes\skins\ folder.
It should look like this:

C:\Program Files\IL2 Sturmovik\PaintSchemes\skins\SABRE\

3) Drop any skins you want to use into that folder.

Make sure when adding the below entry, you put it in alphabetical order with the rest of the planes listed there.
4) Add the following entry at the end of your air.ini file:

SABRE air.XP_86 NOINFO usa01 SUMMER

Thanks Triad, the alphabetical order did the trick! Now it's working.

I appreciate very much your quick and on-the-spot answer.

Sorry, but I'm a bit confused by this contradiction. On the one hand the entry is supposed to be put in alphabetical order in the air.ini file, on the other hand it's supposed to be put at the end of the air.ini file. I've got mine added to the end of the air.ini file. It's working, however the plane is at the bottom of the list in the game. Will this cause me problems later? (when I add other aircraft)?

You could put it at the top, you could put it in alphabetical order, you could put it at the bottom, you could put it in the B's, the C's, the Y's, the 123's, and it wouldn't make a hoot of difference.
