your air.ini file will be in:

C:\**YOUR IL21946FOLDER**\MODS\STD\com\maddox\il2\objects

as to what it does . . . . ?? to be honest I'm not sure, it looks like a reference file for aircraft access on maps/load ups but I'm afraid I cant give you a definite answer on that one :?

Are you installing the new aircraft one at a time, making sure each new one works before you add the files for the next?

If you have the space (or a USb hard drive perhaps?) I'd recommend keeping a copy of your Il2 modded install separately, I back up my whole installation before each new MOD I add so if it doesn't work or narks my install I can just delete and copyn'paste the backup straight over.

Are you using Vista by the way? if so there are a couple of tweaks which can make life easier.

I'm using XP. The only new airplane that I downloaded that wasn't an .exe that didn't work was the F9F-2. The only .exe airplane that I downloaded that worked was the Fw-190A-3.(Which works greatSmile) I couldn't get the F9F-2 to show up on the list of airplanes. Anyhow the UI 1.1 and the 4.09b work great!! I didn't have any of the sound loss or crashes that other people have reported!Smile So much better than 4.08!!

Thanks,

S~Sir,

I have blessedly downloaded and installed 1.1 into a copied folder (that I named IL-2 MOD) of IL-2 1946 updated to 4.08. Inside this folder I have shortcutted the game exe. and the switcher to my desktop and all works well. Now....2 questions: Do I need to download and install 4.09, cause I get the game up with the switch in 4.09b1 mod mode and it appears the maps are working, and I should download and install patch 1.1.1 correct?

I am taking baby steps so as not to futz anything up. I am amazed at the ease of the instalation of mod and it working on my computer no probs...when did that ever happen Confusedhock: Big Grin

Hi Smoothader,

Yes you should d/load and run the UI1.1 patch on your modded install.

If you are unsure if you have 4.09 version check in the bottom left hand corner of your loadup screen(the one that says "All Aircraft Arcade Unified Installer" at the top) when you'v run the 4.09 switcher, it will tell you what version it's loading.

It sounds to me like you're already there Smile

Just in case you haven't got 4.09 then you can d/load and run it here:
