nvidia video card upgrade
#16

I tried each of the 3 mods cockpits, but they are all about the same.... shimmering. no good.

I now have it back to the normal cockpit which is unreadable due to excessive shimmering of all gages.

Strange because I have no shimmering on my screen. I can post my settings of nVidia Control Panel if you like.

wierd....I just rebooted, and re-checked the P38 cockpit (non-Mod) and in the mid zoom it is great!

The smallest setting is (1-10) about a 6, so I am really making headway...
Like I said...I just got this puppy up & running so it is going to take a bit of fine tuning..

I do know that the Hurricane cockpit was horrible, but now it is just fine.

Vp Medias mod for the default QMB maps are really outstanding.. The colors stand out now, where as before they were more washed out...

$$$ well spent I think.

Sorry, I'll try again, maybe my question wasn't that clear. Can you tell me if you have the P-38 modded cockpit version 1.1 and the patch V1.2 for the cockpit installed?

vp_default_mapmods_v1_6 I guess.

Hmmm.. I guess not. I only have the zip file with the three HR, MR & LR folders in it.

I haven't time to search for where the link to the download is right now.. It takes me forever to find anything on this site. Search just doesn't work for me..

OK, I should have V1.3 online this evening (in an hour or two). You could wait a bit and have a look then.

I find it useful to advertise my mod in my sig, so I or anyone else can find it in one of my postings. Smile

FYI: It's up.

BTW: I'm on an 8800GT now. System is a Core2Duo 6400 (2.13) running @3.2GHz, with 4GB on an EVGA 680i board. Anyone upgrading or upgraded to the 275 (or higher) on a similar system?

TY, will get the cockpit Smile About the 275..what I have read it is somewhere between 260 and 285 in performance so not a bad choice for your system Smile

I just DL'ed & ran those three cockpits & they all work just great. Just a very small bit of movement on the placard in the top right of lthe cocdkpit, but it is very well done.

Thanks.

As far as the Nvidia GTX 275, 280, 285... I couldn't afford the 285 which was my first choice after talking to the EVGA tech support guys, but I found the GTX 280 for only 10 bucks more then the 275 so I got the 280.

I am back to the 178.13 drivers because they seem to show up the ground objects better and the aircraft don't disappear at 1.0 for just a second...They stay in view.

I am still in the process of getting those 5 Dll's, il2 in-game setup, config.ini settings and the nvidia control panel settings set correctly. I believe that I have a conflict between them somewhere & I can't get it sorted out.

This card is definately an improvement over my GTS 8800 though...

Thanks for the comment. Can you show me the area you saw the movement, little cropped screenshot? Maybe it's fixable.

Not much difference between 280GTX and 285GTX, the latter drains less power etc, but in performance the difference is not much. I want the 295GTX Wink
